So I just downloaded the dictionary-thick AMV8 Workshop Manual yesterday, hoping that perhaps I could do this project with my cousin and just buy the part, guess not. The document wasn't updated when the retrofit came out.

My cousin who's a very experienced mechanic also read the document, ad told me afterwards that the AMV8 is a relatively "simple" car and there's so much money to be made marking up parts and labor. Maybe I'll fly him in to service my car, it'd still be cheaper than dealership even if I fly him in first class

another sound tech told me it is very easy to work with aston martin. i assume its because since everything is hand assembled, disassembly by hand must be a synch.

I just got off the phone with the local AM dealer. They want $1800 for the kit and 3 hours to install it! Is there an aftermarket version out there? Or, anyone know how to order the kit without getting reamed by the dealer? I read above that the kit was $1088???? I can almost tolerate that, but not $1800. My wifes CLS was $1k. Was it any harder than a bmw or accord?

Geez, I have been talking to my car audio guy back and forth this morning, here is the email I just got...

Good news, I just received a e-mail the Vantage AUX adaptor just came in. So NO FM modulator. We can go directly into the system. It will not effect the way the CD player works.

$325 for the adaptor
$80 for the IPod cable
$321.00 to install both pieces.

much better!

Hmm, sounds too good to be true. I have done quite a bit of research and the only hard-wired options I found were the Paralight unit and the OEM AM retrofit. I sure hope your audio guy is correct. Please keep us well apprised.

These guys are no joke, deal primarily in high end installs without causing any harm to the vehicle. First class all the way.

They've done three of my friends 911's, my wife's CLS55. They try to do the install so it can be put exactly back to factory if necessary... No new holes unless absolutely necessary.
