It Looks Like iPod Integration is Finally Here-OEM Aston Martin Kit!!!
It Looks Like iPod Integration is Finally Here-OEM Aston Martin Kit!!!
All:
I received the attached this morning from my dealer, Lake Forest Sports Cars in Lake Bluff, IL. I called and spoke to Ben there who indicated that cost is $1400 installed. Read the fine print. It appears that for those of us with bluetooth you can control the iPod on the steering wheel somehow!!!!
Lake Forest Sports Cars get their first kit early next week and will install it in a 2007 V8V then! I am excited. This could be good. It appears to be an OEM retrofit for all V8V and DB9's!

Sweet! The retro kit has been out in the U.K. but my U.S. dealer has been telling me it not available over here. Also, this price seems much better. Others have stated a AM OEM was over $ 2500 with installation.
I'd be very interested in hearing people's reviews of this "upgrade". I am skeptical that any Ipod interface will sound even close to as good as the AM system's output from CD's which is very good imho. I too like the idea of iPod integration for convenience sake and I use mostly computer based music at home & office for the same reason (plus some others) but I've never had luck without using a DAC outside a computer or Ipod (although the Wolfson Microelectronics DACs in the 4th and 5th generation Ipods are much better than previous models). There are still a lot of low quality parts after the DAC and opamp that degrade the sound, even in the newer ones.
Sorry, probably too much audio-talk for a car board.

I am not very well versed in audio speak but I love the sound in my premium sound system! I'm sure this would sound just as good if not better than my CD changer.
Also, I should have posted this above but the cost for the OEM part is $1,088 and it requires 2 hours to install.

No, I have not had it done yet. If I do it it will be in the spring.

Thanks for the heads up Adam.
Calling my dealer tomorrow to see if I can get one installed ASAP, as you know this has been a very sour point with me, I've spoken to Graydon on many occasions and they always promised it would be available very soon ...
Looking forward to throwing out my FM transmitter.

Ok - Spoke to the parts department at local Aston dealer and they are quoting me $2700 Cdn
($2480 US) for the kit only + labour.
The kit in not in stock in the UK and appears to be already behind schedule for shipments to North America.

Are you kidding me!!! AM is charging that much for the OEM kit........... Man you guys are crazy for buying into that. I can build a true aftermarket kit for more than half that price.

Strange. I was quoted $1088 USD for the parts and about 2 hours labor. Maybe you can purchase it from my dealer and bring it to a local shop for install. I owuld never pay $2500 USD for this. I think $1400 is pushing it!
