another 911 turbo vs vantage, help me please?

So basically my car will be gone within a week or two, just finishing up paperwork. BMW 335 coupe, it was very modified and easily had 400+bhp.

Currently i am looking at 2007 porsche turbo, or 2007 vantage.

Positives of Vantage:
-Much sexier than the turbo
-the ravaging exhaust
-i really like the interior
-much higher status and more rare than a turbo
-around 10-15k less than a turbo

Negatives:
-Slow on the straights
-possible reliability

Positives of turbo:
-Fast
-amazing handling

Negatives:
Looks like any othere 997, and will look a bit outdated once the 997.2 turbo comes out in january.
-Exhaust sounds mediocre

A 07 turbo in good condition with ceritfied warranty is around 80k(give or take a couple)

A 07 vantage is 70k, this leaves 10k to put the RSC power pack on it.

1)I test drove the 09 vantage SS yesterday and absolutly loved it, will the 07 with powerpack feel much different?

2)How will a SS 07 vantage with RSC powerpack(exhaust, cats, ecu, intake), perform against similar cars such as an e92 m3, porsche carrera S, etc.

I am in love with the sound and looks of the vantage, however the lack of power holds me back.
I also love the turbo, however it sounds....interesting....and looks like any of the othere 100 porsches i see on a daily basis.

suggestions? thank you

Astons a sexy sounding/looking car, but the turbos warpspeed acceleration stole my heart

Great choice, I have had my turbo 6 glorious years and have driven it over 48,000 fast and trouble-free miles.

Its the first car that I am still excited to drive even after many years of ownership.

Hi Sam,

There's quite a few 6speeders on here with RSC powerpack equipped cars so they should be able to help out with some comparisons. The Vantage is never going to be as quick as the 997 turbo unless you stick our supercharger on it, but the NA powerpack makes a surprisingly big difference to the car. The '09 has more mid-range but the 4.3 gains the urgency and responsiveness that is missing from the Vantage. That kick in the back moment that is missing from the standard car.

Plus, if you have $10K to spend on mods you can easily afford the Sportshift map as well, which is huge bang for buck.

ofcourse, ebay and autotrader. Most lowprice vantages are stickshift tho.

Don't rely on the prices stated tho, if you call and are a good talker than you can lower the price a few thousand easily.

Cheapest 997 TT on ebay: $87,900 NOT Certified
Cheapest 997 TT on Autotrader: $84,299 with 38570 miles

Decent low miles(10k+) Certified 997 TT will cost $90k and 3 dealers did not budge more than 1k off the asking price. Will wait till Jan, see if their attitude changes.

Hey bud listen if your easily addicted to power then get the turbo. If you never find yourself wanting to show the backside of the accelerator to the carpet then get the aston.

It's funny how you answered your own question with a test-drive. Before you even said it, I was thinking that's what you needed to do anyway. No one buys or probably will ever buy an Aston b/c it's the quickest, best-handling car out there. It's not about that, and I think you are slowly beginning to realize what it is about in leaving behind a likely very-quick BMW for a Porsche or better...

I have had a 07 Vantage 6speed and I now have a 08 997 turbo 6 speed with mods. The Aston is a wonderful car, its sexy, sounds awesome and is very well built in my opinion. The car just lacks power in a BIG way. After awhile the car just got boring to me to drive. Don't get me wrong, it was one of my favorite cars to own but after a year I was in a 997 TT. The 997TT is not as unique as the Aston, and does not have the exotic touches an Aston does but the car is a blast to drive every time I run it. The car handles very well and the turbo car just has brutal power when you stomp on it I know have 600HP (flash, ecu, headers, filters) and the car is incredible. I have now owned my TT for over 2 years and LOVE IT. I guess its different strokes for different folks. Good luck with your search....

That's why I had mine supercharged to make it even. Similar power but no turbo lag.
