'06-07 Antenna Delete?

I just found out the antenna base on my early build '06 V8V must be slightly different than the one on newer cars. Evidently, the Alta Mini antenna I'm using on my car doesn't fit all V8Vs. - My apologies to anyone who may have purchased something which doesn't fit due my post... I had no idea.

i know this is an old thread and an old topic, but in case anyone is interested...
i finally got around to ordering a short antenna. the link to the Alta antenna was no longer working, so i bought the Out Motoring antenna instead. paid about $20 w/ free shipping at this link:

here's a comparison of the stock and the new one. the texture and color is off (stock is a matte, textured, dark grey, the new one is glossy, smooth, and black), but the antenna is small enough that you don't notice unless you're actually looking at it. the rest of the car demands enough attention so usually nobody's looking at the antenna anyway!

Just posted in your other thread! I have no idea how the reception is, I only use the radio for my iPod haha

Got the new antenna! (the Mini version) Thanks it is a big improvment.
However, i wonder if you can spray it a flat black to make it match the base better. actually, its not that noticeble though as you guys said.

Old thread but I finally got stuck using my FM radio since my iPod recently stopped existing. The reception with the stubby antenna I got sucks. Really sucks. Nothing more to add haha.

Get the Mini Cooper OEM one, my reception is even better than stock. That's the difference between an OEM antenna and an aftermarket one.

I didn't mind the look of the roof antenna at all. The only problem is that, in order to remove it, you have to remove the inside rear headliner rail to gain access to the locking nut and the antenna connector. I had to go through this process all 4 times I wrapped the roof of my car.
FWIW: I hate listening to the radio which is why one of my first tasks when I got the car was to figure out a way to connect my iPod to the stereo.
