Exhaust impressions: Quicksilver vs. Larini vs. Cargraphic

A buddy of mine is getting ready to order an exhaust for his vantage and I told him I'd ask my fellow 6speeders here what their thoughts are. He's considering the Larini, Cargraphic and Quicksilver Supersport.

If you have one, please state which one you have and your impressions on:
  • Quality/Fitment
  • Loudness compared to stock (subjective)
  • Drone compared to stock (subjective)
  • Other commentsThanks everyone!
Here are some of the exhausts under consideration.

He should also consider RSC as well. Do a search for my post and write-up if interested. There is some pretty detailed info.

Hi Edwin,

Drop me a PM with your number or email and I'd be happy to discuss your options with you. I'm obviously biased towards the RSC system but I can give you an honest assessment of all the different sound levels available from the different companies

Cheers,

Stuart

I have a RSC exhaust and 200 cell cats - installed about 2 1/2 years ago. No quality issues, no fitment issues, no "drone", great sound thru all gears and RPM range, yes louder than stock. Highly recommend you check them out.

Quicksilver "Super Sport" exhaust:
-VERY loud, but tollerable in the city and on short drives.
-Simply Too loud on Hwy runs
-Drone particularily irritating under 2800rpm, a bit better around 3000rpm, just plain loud over 3300rpm
-Although too new to be truely subjective, quality seems fine

If I were shopping for another system, I would look for something between the QS "Sport" and "Supersport" or a system with an internal "Switch" to revalve for longer trips...a la Porsche 911.

We have got 2 RSC systems which fall between QS Sport and Supersport sound levels so there's plenty of choice in that range

He hasn't decided yet... I think he's going to think over it this weekend

Thanks for this feedback...exactly what I was looking for! Btw, Cargraphic sells a system that has the valve swtich

I listened to both RSC and Quicksilver before buying. Quicksilver SS is what I have and my opinion is just the opposite. I think it sounds great, I actually feel it is too quiet in the cabin so I run without the package tray deal in the back. That makes it about right. No drone in mine that I notice. Sounds like business over 4000 rpm. I have stock CAT's. Maybe just a chocolate and vanilla thing.

precision porsch, I agree with Stearnsn. I too have a quicksilver ss. It sounds great, actually too quiet, so I too run without the 10# package tray. I also have stock cats but I am aware 200 cell cats will make the car significantly louder if paired with the Quicksilver SS.

Great info! Stearnsn, which RSC exhaust did you listen to?

Thanks for the input. My friend will not be getting cats so it seems like QS SS and RSC is the front runner

What is the 10# package tray?

Please advise.

Alevine, In a conventional sedan or coupe the package tray is the horizontal surface between the top of th rear seat and the base of th backlite. The Vantage Coupe has a clever folding component in this location that acts as a sound barrier (to exhaust and other sounds), and sight shield (for the luggage compt.). This removable panel weighs about 10#. AM probably has aunique name for this assembly
