You would have to send us your TCU (Transmission Control Unit) for re-mapping, but fortunately it is only a 5 minute job to remove it.

It's a personal choice thing, best test drive both and see what YOU think. If you do like Sportshift then the 09MY+ is the one to go for, as it is (new 7 sped aside) the most developed. Personally I feel the SS removes a layer of involvement and hence driver fun.

Correction. Only the 2011 Vantage S has the new 7 speed. The 2009 - 2011 (non s) generally has the same Graziaio 6 speed as the 2007-2008 model. There were just a few tweeks to the 2009+ models with the shift program as well as some of the parts. Still, agreed the 2009+ models do have a nice little upgrade. The RSC TCU upgrade does make the 2007-2008 sportshift much closer to the 2009+ models though.

Yes the new 7-speed is V8S only at the moment, but will no doubt be available as an option on all V8's soon (hence the mention), just as the new Garmin Nav was Virage only on launch, but is now available on DB9/S. Ferrari/Lambo and others used the same Graziano hardware, but the software sets them apart - Aston's had a BIG software upgrade for the 09MY.... and this was a major upgrade - it is the pick... although I'd still have a stick shift !!!

I'm biased toward the MT, but I did not think the sport shift was nearly as smooth as the SMG or Porsche's PDK. Those dual clutch systems are pretty seamless when you are driving with brio.
