DBS Killer - What can be accomplished with $35k in mods on a DB9

I am very interested in buying a used DB9 if I can turn into a DBS killer!

The DBS does not deliver on performance, but certainly does on looks... I used to have an F430 and the performance of a DBS just doesn't cut it, not to mention costs it costs more than an F430.

So can one achieve the following: for about $35k:
- supercharge or turbo charge a DB9, with exhaust...?
- convert the body to a DBS with original or replica parts?

I am unaware of a SC or Turbo for the V12. Edo can convert your DB9 into a DBS looking car and tune it to 550HP which should be faster than a DBS. I think that the tuning part is around 10K. The exterior parts are a bit costly. I'm not sure if you can do the whole thing with install and paint for 35K but you'll come close. ESX offers a SC for the Vantage that is 20-25K. I don't know if they have engineered a kit for the V12 but if they did I'm sure with the exterior parts you'd be over your budget. Having said all of that, I have seen some great deals on 2008 DBS for around 185K. You could still tune the car up to 550HP and get all of the look that you want. My 2 cents.

The DBS/DB9 was never meant to be a straight-line beast or a tarmac hustler. It was meant to be a classy car with a great engine/soundtrack that suits the personality of the car. However , I am aware of ECU mods/exhaust mods that take the power of the DB9/DBS upto the 550 level or maybe a little more than that , but not much beyond that. The market isn't there for such mods for the engine that the DB9/DBS has. The Vantage has a significantly bigger mod market due to its price/relative easy of modding the engine.

An Aston is not about ultimate performance. It's definitely a tier below the top line cars from other makers. If performance is the most important factor, then I think you'd be better off looking elsewhere rather than trying to modify the Aston's V12 - too much time and money.

I knew a guy here in the States who was so obsessed with his Jaguar XJS, that he spent approx $100K on modifying it for power and handling. In the end, he had a car that was almost the equal of current top line coupes/sedans, but that's all.

If the parts aren't already developed into a 'kit' of some kind, the last thing you want is to be the first 'guinea pig'. This guy was, with his twin whipple superchargers and everything else.

I am very curious what they do to tune the engine up to that level.

Sports cats, exhaust, sport filters and ecu. 40 HP is not that much of a stretch for a 5.9L V12 with conservative factory treatment.

I'm surprised they don't offer headers as larger engines typically pick up a good amount of power from them. OP you could probably pick up a good amount more power if you went with some custom headers, straight pipes, and a custom tune.

Thanks for the input guys.

I was only interested in going this route if I could create a real powerhouse.

Given there only alight performance mods available I will likely be going the 997tt Route with some help from Todd and Promotive and some other forum members.

Thanks Everyone!
