07 v8v stock dyno figures

hey guys

so i got some mods and ill be installing them soon . i decided to do before dyno to my stock 07 4.3 v8v

the only dynoshop available here uses Mainline Dynolog the owner of the shop told me that this dyno results are less 10 % than any other dyno"s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

any way so he did 3 runs and recorded the highest attached is the chart .

the resutls where dtorque:231.5 rwhp:293.2

as he explained to calculate the the engine hp i have to add 20% of the rwhp to get the engine hp plus the 10% margin on his dyno.

the car totals 380 as AM Claim.

never did a dyno before and i have no idea if what he is saying is true .

would appreciate your feed back on the dyno resutls and the claims

Despite being corrected to standard temperature and pressure values, different Dynos measure wheel horsepower differently and vary from facility to facility. The 4.3 Vantage has put down 300-310 RWHP and 240RWTQ on a number of different Dynojet Dynos. My stock run is:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...pictureid=6431

It appears that most US 4.3's run very rich in the power band and engine dyno simulator software suggest just leaning out the powerband to 12.5:1 could get you 30HP. With a proper tune of the engine, including timing and fuel with a little more RPM(7500) and racing CATs, I could see the 4.3 putting down another 40RWHP or more! Until now, no-one has successfully been able to fully access the Aston Martin PCM(very expensive and time consuming work).

See if you can get the Air/Fuel ratio curve for your run and compare figures on the same Dyno after your mods. That is the most accurate way to document your progress. Don't worry about the exact numbers, it is the gains after mods that you want to measure. You can get a slightly higher power number by running the test in 4th gear rather than 3rd. Trying to calculate back to engine horsepower is difficult and always seems to generate a lot of arguements. I'd recommend you stick with rear wheel HP and the same dyno and same atmospheric conditions if possible and measure before and after mods.

Good Luck and keep us in the loop!

Those are almost identical numbers to dyno dynamics, so it appears its a loading dyno, that would put your drivetrain loss at about 24% .... decent numbers ...

With that said .... perhaps somebody soon will be able to find a tuner who can fully unlock the ECU potential soon (hint hint) :-D

(Write-up and dynos coming next week) .... been very busy behind the scenes

Theres a big difference between a generl reflash and a true custom dyno tune. Apparently there is a ton of power to be unlocked, even on stock setup

I see. You're a rather exciting poster, I think. You've been talking about two things I'd be interested in if I end up getting a vantage:headers and a retune. Are you a tuner working on this?

No, i am an individual. I have found a good custom dyno tuner though ... the results should be interesting to say the least.

I am going to go out on a limb here .... after going through this car with a fine tooth comb, I sincerely believe 450-470 is possible on the 4.3 ... i know that sounds like a lot but there is so much that can be done to boost power output on these since aston sandbagged so badly

All of them, a true custom dyno tune requires you to go to a local shop and they actually tune the car physically on the dyno. It is very time consuming but its a one off tune specifically for your car. Since my car is bone stock though this tune could be used in theory on any ones car on this forum. I will have a before and after dyno showing the gains ... i was quoted some pretty huge gains (30+) but I will reserve judgement until the dynos are done. I am curious to see what can be done once the ecu is fully unlocked.

My stock run is:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...pictureid=6431

The one part of this dyno run that blows my mind is the Air-Fuel Mixture Ratio. It's starts as it should in the low RPMs at ~14.7:1, but at 4,000 RPM it drops below 12.5:1 (the max HP ratio!) and disappears somewhere below 10:1. I can't imagine any computer controlled FI doing that. That ratio causes a significant loss in Max HP.
