Thats a great idea flinder. I am still going to have the writing sanded off and engraved with my name in the phrase. "Hand built in England for ..... ......"

It wont be the greenish painted on look, but instead an engraved look.

The first place I took it to said they couldn't help out, but I will try a bigger place closer to philly, and let you guys know how it works out.

Just got mine back from a local engraving/trophy shop. He lifted the previous owner's name off and replaced it with mine, cost $40.

I think so too and can't tell the difference, i.e. that it is not the original. I told him what the font was from what I had found on an older thread here but he felt that he could get closer on his own. He was primarily worried about different fonts in different machines, something along those lines. I have this 'you do what you do best and I'll do what I do best' mentality and I let him.

Looks great, thanks for posting.

How did he remove the previous owners name?

Also, did he tell you the font he used?

He told me he would brush it off and laser engrave mine over it. He used 'the font that got the closest'!

Found this old thread

Recently purchased an '08 v8v. Titanium Silver, 9k miles. The custom door sill plates were not attached when I got the car. There's an empty place there now with just the screws and the indentation for the plate. Anyone know where I can get some of these without paying a lot of money?

Welcome, another Houston Aston owner!

For a custom touch, you might consider contacting PistonHeads member Tonyhall38 for sill plates made with whatever you want written on them. Price appears to be comparable to parts on Astonbits

Just ordered a personalized set from Tony for $600 less than Gaydon was going to charge me. He sent me several different looks to chose from and was great to work with.
