Transmission Ecu Upgrade SWAP - RSC/Stuart

For an Automatic Vantage, this seems to be the most essential upgrade. I hate to sound crazy, but I couldn't dare do without my vantage for 8 days! How much is a new SportShift ECU? Can't we get a group of eager upgraders and serially schedule upgrades passing along this loaner SportShift ECU? If so, will newer ShortShift ECUs work in the 2007?

I thought about a swap program, but I have no idea what potential wear one could find on a used SportShift ECU.

Not looking to make any money on this, but I'd pay a premium not to lose use of my Vantage.

Please let me know if my terminology is off, I'm no gearhead.
Thoughts?

My thought is that, based on what I have heard about the increase in performance, the upgrade is so worth it. Why not schedule the upgrade around a business trip or vacation? 8 days of waiting for a vastly improved car sounds like a great trade-off to me.

Good point, but Maybe RSC should consider charging the customer a premium and preshipping an already updated ECU. Then no downtime at all. I'm assuming an ECU is just 1-3k overing being 10-15k. I have no idea.

Maybe I'm talking to the wrong people, but I'll be using this car as an everyday car.

I guess that they could charge for a core, up front, with a rebate upon receipt of the original. I do understand, however, that Stuart may have an alternative.

RSC has many great mod options. I had most of them on my 4.3L. The Sports shift flash is the most significant. My car was down for about a week and when I got it back in order, I would have waited another week. It is that good.

Hey Guys. Thanks for the interest and positive comments. We could definitely do a core, in fact we thought about doing this for the ECUs, but when I looked into that, if memory serves I think it was circa $4K for an ECU. I'm guessing the SS ECU is similar, possibly a little less.

Anyway, as Jay said, most people try to schedule for a time when they are away/weather is bad/wife or girlfriend are dragging them off to the ballet.

Stuart, do you have rough numbers of how many of these you have done; or how many on average a month. Does it always have be shipped to Europe? if you only do 1/2 a dozen a month, there will be no easy way for anyone to support the extra core as I see it.

It would take me some time to dig out the stats and figure out the average, but it's not enough to make the core charge worthwhile to be honest. We do have to ship these to Europe - the AM ECUs are difficult to access and I only have one person in our organization who does the work on these.

So in part it is a 'quality control' issue as well.

I purchased the re-tuned TCU from Stuart as well. Total time car was out of commission was about 7 days. IMO, best bang for the buck mod. Next up for me is the ECU.
