duh ... Toyota grey ... geez have a Met. Grey 4Runner in the driveway and touch up paint in the garage right next to my AM touch up paint kit! So just tried it ... yep Toyota grey worked nicely. It is Toyota - "1E9" P/N 00258001E921 ...

The one that was suggested to me is "IE3" actually. It's been too humid around here lately to test it though. I should get the chance this weekend.

Update - Not sure about the difference between IE3 and 1E9 - maybe just an update as body styles change?
The one I used yesterday (5/5/11) 1E9 is now dry and is a very good match for a small "chipped out" area I had on passenger side. Also 1E9 does have a touch of "metallic" in it as do the AM door handles.

Think I have the answer...

Guys,

Not sure if you have a solution to this chip problem for the interior door handles but I found a really close match.

I went to Halfords in the UK and found Peugeot Iron Grey. It's damn close and great for small chips. I can't see the difference without really really looking.

Hope this helps,

P

Just a quick update on touchup paints.

Testors Graphite Grey enamel (#2712) works. Apply using a small paint brush available from craft stores.

Hide the chip[

An instant fix, use a black felt marker pen...done, while you contemplate a permanent repair.

A year or more ago a Brit on Pistonheads, was going to strip his DB9 parts. Same as Vantage, they are aluminum. Never read of his resolution.

If you strip your parts consider this:

For an attractive, forgiving finish, buff with a fine steelwool pad or equivalent. Clear topcoat would be optional.

Might want to try - European Motor Works in Santa Anna, CA. I understand they mix for some authorized AM repair facilities. I gave then my VIN and color needed. Got some touch up for under $20 and was very pleased. 714 957 1290. Can't recall who I spoke with a year ago but he was super helpful.
