I'm new here, so bear with me if I'm not down with the protocol on forum activity.

I've recently purched an '07 V8V drop-top and it's in need of new rubber. I'm not really a fan of the OEM 50A, so I'm looking for other options.

Do any of you have experience with the RE-11, or any other options that have worked well for you?

 

Supposed to be a very good tire...it tested well and got good reviews on TireRack, ranking best in test overall although not the best in most of the objective track tests. Good performance for the price, but it is on the heavy side.

Comparable tires would be the new Michelin Pilot SuperSport, Conti ExtremeContact DW, and Yokohama Advan AD07. There is supposedly a new Bridgestone S-04 on the way, too. I also like the Toyos.

Fohguy, it would help if you told us what your goals and driving style are. For instance, if you said you wanted a nice quiet ride and don't mind a smooth looking sidewall then I would suggest increasing the width by 10mm and going with 285 rear and 245 front Nitto Invo. Invo's transformed my C6 Z06 from a noisy, twitchy, harsh ride to a smooth as silk enjoyable driving experience. But I may be looking for something completely different than you.

I'm looking for something with great dry handling, that has a smoother, more compliant ride and is hopefully quieter than the OE Bridgestone. I'm new to the AM brand, but have owned a dozen Porsches over the years. There is always that one "sweet" tire for every car model, and I can't believe that the OE tire is it for the V8V. I plan on sticking with the stock rims, but it doesn't seem like that many AM owners are riding on anything other than the OE tires on the OE rims.

 

I have a set of Conti rubber on order which will go on this weekend for a track day next. I tracked mine with Pirelli Corsa a couple of weeks ago. Changed to Carbotech from stock and the rubber mentioned above. We'll see if there is a difference. But the AM will not be a regular track rat like the Elise, these sessions are more for giggles and curiosity.

 

I will be purchasing RE-11s this week or next week. If you can wait long enough, I should have a writeup posted before the end of the month hopefully with the new wheels & tires

007, not going to pull the trigger for a month or so. Still have plenty of tire left, but I want to make sure I get the right tire when I do change. As I probably wont put but 4k miles a year on the car, I'll have to live with my choice for 2-3 years. So, I want to get the best I can of what's available at this point. I look forward to hearing about your impressions of the RE-11.

BTW, is anyone riding on the new Michelin Super Sports yet?
