Finally installed the Brembo 2-piece rear rotors today. ...

Quick Summary:

• $1500 for direct replacement 2-piece Brembo rear rotors
• Galvanized Steel rotors (Zinc coated for corrosion resistance)
• Rotors shaved 9.0 lbs PER ROTOR (18.0lbs for the rear axle alone!!!)
• 2-3 hour install (depending on shop labor rate)
• Reduced future maintenance costs, replacement disc only, keep same hub
• Directional veined rotors (stock are not directionally veined)

I have the carbotech AX-6 and they squeal like a spanish pig being killed, lol. I will be installing shims soon, along with new rims and tires. At which point i might be able to tell you the OEM weight of the rims. also changing the trans oil to RP

 

Sounds like the rotor upgrade is a good one, but there has to be a better source. If the rear rotors are $1500/set how much would the fronts be?Stoptech makes 2-piece rotors and I think they are available in our size. Whether they will fit is another question entirely, but it sounds like it would be worth asking. Losing another 40 lbs of unsprung mass would be nice, though!

 

i have the stock 19's i will try to give you the weights without tires.

 

by the way 007 can eurocharge do their magic if we send them the ECU by mail. I got mine done that way in the past with RSC.

 

for the 1500 did you also get the calipers?

if not, wouldn't the brembo package that RSC sells be better since it includes the disc and caliper.

The rear package for $1595 IS just the rotors. There is no rear caliper upgrade kit

 

maybe stuart can chime in, but I think that the package he sells for $1595 includes calipers. If not his item description is misleading.

007, let us know if you find replacement fronts that work. the savings from that and the rims should be quite nice.

 

I do see what Zambono is saying, though. If that's the case, RSC should remove the statement about the larger caliper on the rear kit and clearance issues, as well as color choices.

 

correct, its exactly the same description as their front kit. which would indicate it came with the caliper. i will PM stew

 

do we know if the N version of the vantage uses lighter fronts?
