I've never tried them..curious, did you try programming by manually inputting the sensor ID numbers into the SmarTire module?

Thank you sir, not much consolation I know but the community values your efforts. Please provide as much detail as you can about what you tried to get them working. Did the vendor take them back? Their nebulous return policy was what kept me from ordering from them.

These were supposedly "plug n play" so we plugged them and it didn't calibrate, drove 100 miles +. They normally dont take returns but they have honored to take mine back but its going to cost more to take them out and put wheels back in so its a loss either way.

Is this a rumar that is spread among ppl..the SmarTire TPM system IS NOT A PLUG AND PLAY/AUTO LEARNING SYSTEM..a lot of ppl are told this (even some AM techs are misinformed)

The system only has an antenna, there are no initiators..intiators are what tell the tpms sensor to send its readings from that wheel. When the initator activates the tpm wheel sensor and notices the returned reading are from a new ID..the module goes into a learning mode..it then picks up and looks for the possible new sensor ID's..this is a plug-and-play auto learning system (something like Land Rover and Jaguar have)

On SmarTire systems, due to only having the antenna in the module and no initiators, you cannot activate the wheel sensors...so the sensors are made to send in there feeds upon certain counted rev's vs time. But unless the tpm module has the sensor ID's stored, the module will not be able to communicate to the new/un-programmed sensor that was indstalled.

When ever a SmarTire wheel sensor is replaced, the ID number on the sensor need to be programmed to the SmarTire module..this is done with the dealers AMDS(Aston OBDII machine)..the ID's are flashed to the module..then new TPM sensors are visible

Thanks for the explanation - very good info.

I am at a loss in understanding how such expensive cars have such inferior systems such as these. $264K dollars for a new DBS and with a TPMS system like this???

And to make this even more bizzare, Ford owned both Aston and Jag for many years. Jags' TPMS system has been around since 2002. Why did Aston not work with Jag and just use their system which is obviously more advanced.

Wow...just makes you shake your head.

Tire system fault message display in DIC and yellow flat tire icon. Just like every other car.
I fixed mine by grounding 2 wires @ the module.

Thanks J - W.

I actually am going to order a new set of TPMS for the wheels as I'd like to keep everything as original in terms of functionality.

Going Aftermarket for TPMS

I like the 'stock' look of the Vantage interior, BUT I am going aftermarket on the TPMS next tire change since my '06 sensors started to die, and I unplugged the sensor module. The OEM system is an overpriced fossil from SmartTire as some already noted. Smart tire offered a very similar stand alone setup years ago. AM no doubt just grafted the warning light connection into the OEM dash light and info center and saved a bunch on R&D.

This is a good option. 4 sensors AND a dislpay showing all 4 pressures.... for ~$160.

Its an Orange Electronics system resold several places. (~$130 around ebay new)

I used this exact system for years in another car with great results. The display shows all 4 tire pressures in real time and the sensors lasted about 4years. Again for the cost can't beat it IMO. There no doubt are other similar, but I really like the display showing all 4 pressures at a glance so you know your are low, not just flat.. Its basic but the LED digits light up just right to be seen well from a distance. As opposed to an LCD screen.

I'll mount the display down low by your knee ... you can at least 'look down' when you want to check pressures. Typically when you start the car. Alarm goes off when pressure drops below a set threshold while driving.

$1000 for OEM sensors! And no actual tire pressure readings? Yikes!

actually the OEM TPMS set is available for less than $600. Still expensive but as AM prices go, not that bad.

If one of the sensors is dead and I have the “Tyre System Fault” warning in the Driver’s Information Module (DIM) display, will the other three sensors still be able to send a “Check Tyres” warning on the DIM? I'm willing to live with the yellow light if I know the other three sensors can give me a low pressure warning.
