****Clutch Life****
2007 Vantage, manual with 17xxx, shifts smoothly with no issues. I'm the second owner, and I had occasion to speak with the original owner, who said he didn't have any clutch issues either. These clutches should last a long time under normal use. Most importantly.....don't ride the clutch with your left foor when your driving, as this wears them out in a hurry on any car.
I have 18K and its definitely acting weird. Not exactly slipping, but it takes longer to grab and feels rough. This car has never seen a track and I'm pretty easy on it. SS with RSC upgrade.
I was quoted $5300 on my 09 Vantage. "Luckily" what I had was a real failure and was covered under the warranty.
Hello all,
Sorry to revive this old topic
I have a 2008 sportshift and the car has about 15.000 miles (25.000 km). No problems yet, but I have the occasionally burn/rotten eggs smell.
My dealer told me that if you do the clutch learn procedure every time, avoid shifting at high revs and take your foot of the accelerator when you shift, a clutch can last a lifetime.
He said that he has cars with over 30.000 miles (50.000 km) with the original sportshift clutch.
When I just had my car, I drove it like I stole it. But now, after a few months, I appreciate driving at low speeds and shift at maximum 3,5 or 4000 rpm. Sounds boring, but hey, i'm not in the mood for big repair bills.
I have a Mercedes (c class AMG). I has about 37.000 miles (60.000 km) and I'm still on my original brake pads. The dealer told me he had never seen that

oo7: any particular tricks you use to reduce clutch wear?
I've always thought I was pretty good with a clutch. In one year of ownership I have smelled the clutch three times. Those are only times I have smelled a clutch in my entire life. It's really a weak point in the car. I have 10k miles and don't know how long it will last.
My Porsche's never had to have theirs replaced even when I added significant power to one of them. I had 550hp on my Turbo with the stock clutch and never had a problem.
