Give me your opinion on performance mods for the 4.3L V8 Vantage. I'm looking for exhaust, cat, filter combo or possibly just exhaust filter combo. What brands do you recommend i've read about RSC, Quicksilver, AM Power Pack, etc.

I'm also considering used parts so if any members are selling these parts please let me know. Thanks.

Used parts i'm looking for:

1. Exhaust
2. Cat
3. Air Filter
4. V8 Vantage OEM front bumper (condition, color doesn't really matter. Can be chipped, cracked, just not missing any parts of the bumper).
5. Vantage Side Skirts (style, condition, color doesn't really matter. Can be chipped, cracked, just not missing any parts of the bumper).

 

I have gone w/ RSC for your "1,2,3" and had no issues (mods now 3-4 yrs old). Their ECU mod is less expensive than AM Power Pack (which I hear is getting hard to order). Go w/ their less loud exhaust if you are getting 200 cell cats - trust me - the cats make a big difference in sound.

 

The skirts and bumpers can be sourced a lot of places, and your tastes will dictate which ones you should choose. I would try The Vantage Collection as they seem to have very high quality add-ons.

What are you trying to accomplish with the performance mods? Total hp, torque, sound, top speed? The 4.3L can be augmented somewhat with an ECU flash, but there are other quantifiable options out there that can give you the best blend of enhancements for your particular needs. I read PistonHeads a lot, and have learned a ton about options that are out there. Good luck with your search!

 

Ya i read on several posts if i get the cats to go with a quieter exhaust. Thanks for the input.

These are actually going to be used for prototype purposes. I want to keep my OEM parts if/when i decide to remove the aero package which is why condition/style really doesn't matter.

I'm actually trying to accomplish all of these things =)

 

Supercharge it. Best bang for the buck ( actually quite a few bucks ). Car is transformed to a different level.

He has done a car called Jessica that a couple of the PH crowd have driven, and they were amazed. The torque adds are low, medium and high. That was a complete engine rebuild on a 4.3, but he has other stuff (headers, etc) that has been proven to exceed what a ECU flash will do for pretty much the same coin. There are other members of 6speed here that are aware of his abilities, as he was a designer of the Aston Martin engine program for years. You will find a fair degree of push-back from the ECU-focused flash crowd here, but it might be worth a look for you.

 

Great idea...the only problem is when i'm done with my wish list i would've spent more modifying the vehicle than its worth =) i also don't want to mess with my engine too much in case things fail.

Anybody have experience with a titanium exhaust? I know its ultra light but what are the other advantages? How much more HP? Would you buy one if it was more affordable?

 

"Titanium" alone is not going to give you more HP .... for a street car I would not pay the extra bucks ...
