New AM V8V Owner
New AM V8V Owner
Been reading this forum for about a week now that I am taking delivery of 2010 AM V8V this Saturday. Here are the specs:
2010 Sport Package
Premium Sound
Blue Tooth
Sat.
AML special paint (morning frost)
Clear tail lamps
Piano Black veneer
Obsidian black interior and white course stitching.
I will be adding the following ASAP:
RSC wheel spacers
N400 Sills
Carbon Fiber engine cover
I am also going to meet with Jerry at Eurocharged to be the first to have the newer V8 4.7 tuned.
I recently sold my Audi R8 and needed another sports car. Current daily driver is a 2011 range Rover SC but just not the same. I will admit that I LOVED my R8 and have high expectations for the AM. As soon as she arrives I will post some pics as well as keep you guys informed on the tuning results.

Its the custom dyno tuned. There was one done on a 4.3 that a forum member discussed so I called Eurocharged and we are scheduled to start within a week or 2. This will be the first he has been able to do for the 4.7 so not sure what our results will be.
Be forewarned the wheel spacers are not as simple to install as some might suggest. The wheel hub on each corner must also come out and the bolts that mount them are hard to reach from behind. Moreover, each hole in the rotor must also be drilled out to 5/8" to allow for the increased shoulder of the new bolts. Took 4 solid hours to do the spacers. Not complaining, just wish I knew what I was getting into prior to the job. Would LOVE to hear your review of the R8 as that may very well be my next purchase. I was told once by a member that owned both cars that the vantage is like an exotic muscle car and the R8 is like a Lexus on steroids. Your thoughts please.

Oh my... That car looks so damn good.
My thoughts on the R8. it has been by far one of the best, wait, the best sports car I have owned. Other than being a high quality German built car it's one of the most striking cars on the road in my opinion.
I have been a pure Porsche driver up until I my R8. The handling was superb with the all wheel drive and plenty of power even with the V8.
The interior is not as refined as the AM but I was always too busy looking out my windshield @ high speeds to notice (on the track of course)
The R-tronic is sluggish but there are a few software updates that helped this out. It was not 100% but I didnt mind. As far as the exhaust note, not really one. Of course this is an easy fix with aftermarket exhaust in which I prefer the stassis for the R8.
One of the biggest problems with the R8 is it's an audi. That means your car is serviced with the likes of A4' (not that there is anything wrong with that) but it takes away from the exotic feel.
When you do have an issue with the r8 a qualified tech must work on this and everything is reported to a audi. I found this can hold up the repair progress.
There are plenty of mods out there for the audi but I chose to leave as is.
It really, truly is a daily driver sports car. It rode great and was comfortable on long trips.
I will be getting another R8 but waiting for the 2014 body change. Until then, I will see if AM can win my heart over. It's a stunning car and a true gentlemans sports car.
