Road Trip
A motorcycle buddy of mine sent me this link for a great website on road trips. The ride close to Dallas looks fun and st. Jo has a cool ancient pizza place to visit at night or a few Texas BBQ places along the way.

We have done the LA to Monterey drive for Concours week several times and it is the absolute best drive there is. You have the ocean, Hurst Castle all the high speed corners, wine country and then you get to Monterey for the week of shows and auctions. You will have a great time. We have driven an AM every time and you will find it the perfect car for the trip. Does everytihng you want without being too flashy and attracting the wrong (CHP) attention. We also mount a video camera on the dash for some wonderful memories. We have met before and if you would like some detail info for making the trip pm me. Ken

I have not tried it, was waiting for the weather to get better asI have a Roadster and that top will just have to come down! I may have time this weekend in the AM as the wife has to work. Let me know if anyone is interested. I just finished my mods (RSC Filter, cats and ECU tune) so I need to see what it will do!
We did the Swiss alps last year in my last Vantage. We are doing 2 weeks around Cornwall & Wales in May then just under 3 weeks around Spain and France in September.
We are planning 3 week trip to California & Vegas for next year, I would love to ship the Vantage S over but may have to resort to hiring a vette.

Tale of the Tail
Reading these Road Trip posts prompted me to to try Tail of the Dragon enroute to Fla.
Easy to find out of Knoxville, beautiful green, rural countryside. Follow the #129 South; in less than an hour you are in it.
Rain had quit earlier, but these are the Smokey Mtns. so up you climb into the mist. Wow, freshly paved and widened just a bit in critical OH MY GOD spots. Its been recently lined, has a bunch of warning signs, but still, there are 318 turns, a bunch are switchbacks, in just 11 miles.
Almost no traffic, its out of season, nobody in sight southbound front or rear, just 3 or 4 work trucks northbound.
Take it easy, watch ahead to anticipate the direction change/incline or decent. Take a break on a flat and even a loaded Ford Edge has been proven a capable ride. Fun, one more check mark on the bucket list.
Tail would be a good test for both Vantage and driver!
