Light snow and rain - take the Vantage S?

Today's forecast calls for light snow and rain. I was going to head to my local dealer to see the one-77. Should I chance the conditions in the Vantage S? Thus far I've only driven it in dry conditions. Any thoughts?

Well, if you're taking a poll, I don't drive mine in the wet (rain or snow). Do you live in a place where they use salt on the roads? I wouldn't chance that at all. Do you have a lot of experience driving in snow? I do and (maybe for that reason) would not, except under the most dire circumstances, consider taking a RWD sports car with fat 'all-seasons' out in any seriously snowy conditions. It's not that it's no fun or dangerous (although both are true) but it's downright embarrassing most of the time.

A friend of mine with a Maserati Gran Sport got caught one year by a sizeable snow storm. He hadn't gotten his car into storage in time. I believe he got stuck in many places requiring pushes from numerous bemused onlookers as he made his way the half mile to the storage garage.

I gave myself a serious scare trying to drive my DB9 in less than half an inch of snow/slush recently. Only about 1K miles on new (summer) tires. The ABS and traction control were working overtime. Tires are too wide & too hard, and too much power.

I won't be doing that again.

You can drive it in the rain, it won't melt. Snow is another matter though. Rear wheel drive on a small car with fat summer tires is a recipe for disaster on snow.

Agree, I never take mine out in any snow and even avoid rain.

But with the M3 with fat summer tires, you wont get anywhere. I was running PS2s two years ago, and tried driving on 1 inch of fluffy snow, I couldnt go more then 100 yards from my house.

As stated above, it will be useless in even a fraction of an inch of snow. I have lived in some cold, snowy places and my sports cars have always been embarrassingly useless when I found myself caught out in the elements.

I wouldn't chance it.

mikey k, your pics show snow on the side of the road. That kind of snow is fine for driving.

It depends on your tires. I have winter tires on mine and in light snow or any rain it's fine. I wouldn't cowboy around but I can get around with out worry. By the way, I don't think that the One-77 is going be at Kerbeck until Friday. I'm going in the morning.

C'mon mates ***** up ... a little bit of wintery mix, say some rain and some snow, slushy ground is fine... I was caught out in a wintery mix with the DB9 this past Saturday...I have hard as a rock and wide Bridgestone Potenza on the car and I need new tires lol!! Car was fine, just feed throttle gradually and she's fine. So long as it's not a bunch of snow or ice you'll be fine....just make sure you give her a nice clean up afterwards get all the dirty watermarks off and hit the undercarrige if possible to get rid of the grime. dirt, and salt....

If it's just a bit of slush, okay, but if it's below freezing and there's ice or dry snow, wouldn't chance it. There's a good chance you'll run into something or get stuck somewhere. Last year I tried to make it into work in my M5 with hard pack snow on the roads. I made it about a block from my house and had to turn back home. Again, fat summer tires + RWD means = no traction.
