New Aston Owner... Few Questions
New Aston Owner... Few Questions
I have always loved Astons and we rarely see them up here in the Twin Cities. A dealer I usually shop/look around at got in an 05 DB9. I was in love, I drove it loved it even more. I was drunkenly in love and purchased it before you knew it.
Now I do not regret buying this car, I have loved it more than any other car I have owned but I didn't do the best home work before driving it home.
I paid a very good price for it, but I do not know how often I should be taking it into the shop? Oil change I was told 10k or once a year. Probably will be every 10k because I have a hard time NOT driving it.
Any other advice you can give to a new Aston owner?

Congrats on a great car. I got my '06 DB9 about 6 months ago and I'm still grinning. Glad to hear you're going to drive it!
Service intervals are annual/10K miles. If your car's been serviced in the Aston network a dealer can pull the service history for you. Also ask them to pull the build sheet in case you have options that aren't obvious (I found out I had the high-spec alarm).
If you've got original tires, they'll be getting pretty brittle by now. And if it's the original battery it's probably on it's last legs too.
Almost everybody pulls fuse 22 (in the trunk, driver side, rear left corner) so the exhaust flaps stay open ALL the time. Great noise
Enjoy

^^^ excellent point Bill. The DB series astons need clear bra... the front of the car protrudes and is low slung, the car has rake to it, the front end takes a pounding from the elements, bugs, rick chips, etc...my DB9 had clearbra installed prior to the car turnig it's first mile on the road. As such still after 4 years front is perfect.

Bennie, Congrats brother. I've had mine for a little over a year, daily driver, and still get excited going to & from work.
Take the advice on the clear bra...pronto! I made that mistake and it was too far gone in just a few miles.....it will eventually cost me an expensive paint job when I get around deciding what new color to paint the car. Black on black now. Thoughts anyone?
I mentioned this in an earlier thread, if not a manual, have someone check the gear-box hoses as these get brittle too and you don't want to have to replace the gearbox from an oil leak....this was caught on mine by a mechanic who knew AM's and did a thorough inspection when I bought it with just 7500 miles, but an 05 like yours. Just like any car, throw some cardboard down and pay attention to it.
Last bit, take care of the leather, especially on the dash. The passenger side top panel has shrunk for several of us. Get a sun shade when parking outside, and keep that leather from drying out...again true on any car...but AM has a coach-maker's history and we've got leather everywhere. I use Zaino, but I'm sure there's a lot of good other stuff out there too.
Welcome to a very fun experience! Good decision! Cheers.

Here are a few photos of the car. Took it up to the lake this weekend and she's pretty dirty at the moment. After I bought it they told me it has a built in radar detector. Works very well (except for one time) glad its in there.
