The MP4-12C is a technical well built supercar and very cutting edge and purpose made for functionality, as one would expect from McLaren. I do hate the naem MP4-12C sounds like a software version or new music data format than it does a car. Clarkson says the car is too good, too perfect, and hence lacks personality, more like a robot that is effecient and effective and perfect in what it does repeatedly but that you would think is boring to hang out with versus say a pal who was fun to hang out with and had quirks and personality.

 

If I was offered a brand new MP4 even up for my old DBS I wouldn't even have to think twice...no thanks.

458? I'd have to think a little longer, but still no thanks. You need to be some kind of real extrovert to drive a Ferrari (or Lambo). Too much unwanted attention.

 

I wouldn't drive a fezza or lambo either, but I'll always be happy to drive a Macca. When I say drive, I mean to own...I'd happily test-drive either of the two aforementioned. The Mclaren looks more subtle and cerebral to me, I don't know that it's much flashier than a DBS (aside from the doors). The DBS looks better to me, though.

 

I was thinking the same thing but in McLaren Orange. My wife likes it though.

 

It's funny because when the 458 and MP4 first came up, they didn't strike me as impressive-looking cars, contrast to when the 360 first came out, nothing else was like it. Now these 2 cars are really growing on me, 458 for its looks as a Spider and MP4 because of its technology.

I drove the McLaren and I have to say it was hugely impressive. The suspension is just superb, and I thought the steering had very good feel. The power is INSANE. I'd love to have one. But...

It is SO fast that if you even begin to tap into its performance you are going far too fast for the road. It's a car that I'd need to have the time to take to the track on a regular basis. Until you're going at huge speeds -- at which it is amazing -- I feel as though you're not experiencing what the car is about. Yes, it can be used as a daily driver, and it is very docile at low speeds. But that's not why you buy this car. You're going to want to use the performance -- and you just can't on a public road (at least where I live) without doing stupid things.

Astons are great to drive really fast. But one of the things I love about Astons is that you don't have to drive them crazy fast to get the Aston experience. For me, that makes them more fun more of the time.

 

^^^ MP4 - 12C ... I want one! for me it's a toss up between the that and the F458, and the Lambo 670SV (although I think this one is slightly more then the other 2) ...I think value wise the McLaren is probably the biggest bang for the buck, followed closely by the 458, which is the ulimate benchmark, a masterpeice if you will

I hope to put one of these into the stable god willing in due time.

 

If you go with the 458, just don't do this to it! Mansory strikes again!

ManSORRY makes some truly ugly packages (and some that aren't too bad), but I honestly think this 458 is the worst yet.

 

Makes you wonder how they stay in business.
