MikeD will become famous soon enough
In an article about the new Vanquish, Autoweek (15 Oct 12) cites a total DBS production run of 3200.

It'll be close to 3400 by the time they are done. The highest VIN I've seen is 3336 for one of the Ultimate Edition DBS's (#51 of 100). But VINs and car numbers don't always match up.

YEP, the only thing I've ever heard was on a show about AM as well, and they said that AM does not release sales numbers, and only would say they produce ABOUT 5,000 units per year, and gave no other breakdowns, I did see somewhere when I was researching my 06 DB9, that there were approximately 300 06 db9's produced that year

Not remotely correct. They made at least a few thousand. They started making them in late 04 and by 2006 they were well over 6000 units.

Not to be pedantic, but you didn't say US only. And US sales were much more than 300. About half of all db9 sales were in the US, which means somewhere between 1200 and 1500.
