G'Day,

I upgraded the door speakers to Focal CA100 and put them in the rear as well, they are driven by a Critical Mass amplifier. Sounds very good to me, now I am looking to upgrade the sub. I know there is a 8" subwoofer installed which I want to replace it but have no idea how much space (hight) is in the subwoofer box to select a decent speaker.
Can anybody help?

Cheers

Christian

I'll end up having to probably go down this route, I'm currently considering a JL8" and upgrading the amp but have yet to figure out the schematics since I've yet to pick up the car! Did you end up finding out?

Yes, I installed an Eaton 8-530 Hex dual coil subwoofer in the original subwoofer housing and an additional amplifier just for the sub. Both amplifiers are controlled by an active crossover. I am absolutely happy with the setup, sounds brilliant for me and as long as you do not fold the seat forward it looks absolutly original (as there is no hidden space to mount the amplifiers without giving them the preprogrammed heat death I had to mount them behind/under the seats).
I am happy as Larry

Cheers

Christian

Installed the Focal PC 100's in the doors, having the 2007 V8V Premium audio. They sound great. Not much different from before, as I thought the premium was really good. Possible placebo effect, but the midrange seems tighter, even at low volume, with better separation.

They're a tight fit, but a fit nonetheless, and using the existing four threaded holes. Before installing the Focals, I cut some strips of adhesive foam weather stripping and lined the inside face of the speaker cutout, to provide a degree of acoustic isolation between the speaker body and the mounting subframe. I doubt it made any noticeable difference, but I also hoped it would reduce the possibility of any buzzing.

Worked out good the first time!

Rear Speaker Removal

How do you remove the rear speakers on the DB9?
I tried to pry them off as I read that they simply come off on the vantage, but that doesn't seem to be the case on my DBS.

Welcome to the forum. I would wait a day or two, bump this then if no reply try contacting Speedracer800, he might know how to if he ever took out the rears in my DB9 or his DBS. He has taken most of the interior out of one. so might.

With only two posts, not sure you can pm someone. Instead, make a thread saying

"How do you remove rear speakers on a Vantage; or a DB9

That way answers for both may be put into a thread. But in this case a thread may be needed, so go for it sir
