6-Cyl DB7 Running Warm?

Hello,

I've owned my '97 DB7 with the SC six for a year now, and enjoy it a lot (except that, truth be told, it could use a bit more "oomph"). I only have one issue-- when warmed up, it seems to run a bit too hot. The temp gauge reads at the 1 o'clock position, one notch past straight up. It gets hot faster when I climb a hill, but the temp drops quickly when I go down a hill. The car seems to run fine regardless. Is this "normal" for this model/engine? Or is a radiator overhaul in order?

TIA for any comments.

You'll probably have more luck over at amoc.org. Not many DB7 i6 owners post here, but the DB7 (Bloxham) board at the amoc site is quite active.

I work on a few I6 SC'd DB7's, sounds really normal to me. Even with the intercooler, the SC gets the temp up there and fast. Guess thats why Aston went to the DB7 Vantage (aka..V12) ..hehe then again Dr Bez is against forced induction..but thats other topic

If the mileage on the engine isnt high at all, don't think the rad would need a re-build. But what you can do is service the cooling system if this has not been done. The cooling system (per Aston) is to be serviced(coolant replaced) every 2 years or 30,000mls, which ever comes first. When replacing the coolant, if you have no idea about the thermostat, as in when it was last repalced, also replace the thermostat and add in a bottle of Water Wetter to the coolant when mixing. The Water Wetter will help bring done the coolant overall temp a few degrees.
