V12V Sportshift?
Bummer
. I want to trade up to a V12V some day, but I have chronic pain in both feet and running a clutch for more that a short distance is prohibitively painful. That’s why I swapped my first Vantage with a stick for one with paddles. If I can't get a V12V with paddles, I'm afraid I won’t be getting one at all.

Well, the SS seems to be able to change gears as fast as I can drive so I'm happy.
As I said, I loved the car but the V12V gear change was too sloppy and long for me. It didn't seem to offer the visceral driving experience of other manuals that I've driven.

Do you still have a 4:3 CRT TV at home?

Nope, I also have an R8 V10. Much more modern idea of a car. Very different character.
Every great car is built around a great idea. The V12V is not a modern car, it has an old school romantic flare about it. That's what it does better than everyone.
Buy a McLaren if you want a car that is not playing around with modernity. Astons are built with modern tech, but the ideas are old. The V12 was built to exemplify that ideal and it was a limited edition ideal.
The V12V is not the only Aston. It's not even the only Aston with the v12. But it is the most old school in character and that was the point of THIS car. It's why the magazines wrote about it. It was the reason not to buy a 599 instead etc.
It won't be the point of other Astons, the Vanquish is ONLY available with an auto.

Fair play Penguin, each to his own. I have a 2013 GT500 and I do enjoy the stick shift in that. I just did not get the same kick from the V12V - as I said mainly because the shift throw was too long and sloppy. Perhaps it was the one I drove....?
Astons need to be modern. If not they will slowly revert back to the sub 1000 annual volume ranks, which will ultimately only end one way....
Sorry if I sound hostile. But it's my feeling that the very best cars are about a singular idea.
No one is upset that the McLaren 12C or the F458 are not offered in a 6 speed. That's not what they are about.
You can't get a V12 in the 458 either. That's not the point of the car.
The Porsche GT3 RS has no back seats even though nearly all the other 911's do. Why? It's not the point of THAT model. The limitations give the cars character and the stop the lineup from turning into some kind of mix and match salad bar.
I personally think Aston has to do more of that. The run they currently have is that all their cars are too alike as it is.
The v12V is Astons version of the Porsche GT3 cars. It's not meant to be for everyone.

Agree they need to be more modern, but the V12 is not the car to do that.
The engine for starters is ancient, but its a good ancient.
The path forward will likely be historically influenced like the 991's. those cars are new versions if an old idea. You can see the future in the Boxster, 916 and 918 cars. Everything about the car is a newer idea.
I will say the new 991's just bored me to tears. They lost some of the excitement I felt in 997 cars.
I hope Aston never compromises the experience for the stop watch.
