Yet another project for my Vantage
Karl-Franz, thank you very much!
Since you've been into both the stereo and the steering wheel, is it possible to plug-n-play the stereo volume switchpack onto the steering wheel for those cars that don't have it?

seriously awesome write-up for the steering wheel. that's just fantastic.
earlier today i was thinking about how badly i wanted to wrap my steering wheel in alcantara for feel and a touch more thickness and padding.
awesome stuff, thanks for posting it!

For me, I sourced a wheel with both controls because I wanted cruise control for my car, but I also thought that having both switchpacks adds a certain symmetry that is lacking when the steering wheel has only one set of controls. Of course, reaching to the center console to select the stereo is only an arm's reach away, so no big loss. The wheel also looks good at night since both switchpacks light up.
Karl,
Found your post via search. Very impressed with your work. Picked up a 07 AMV8 recently and planning to retrofit the CC switch, yeah for symmetry really.
Couple of questions if you don't mind.
1. Battery disconnect. I am aware of the disconnect switch in the trunk but the manual mentioned about disconnecting the switch within 10s of the car shutting down to prevent the alarm from sounding off. So I have to start the car, shut down, rush to the trunk and activate the switch? As easy as that? Any tips?
2. There is this junction box(has a label like DA K57) where both switch packs go to. That rectangular box north of the steering wheel. Is there just a junction box or is there circuitry in there? Cos on the circuit diagram, the wires from CC switch pack seems to go directly to the slip ring.
3. Did you get your dealer to activate the CC switch pack?
Thank you for your time.

1. Or you could, you know, actually disconnect the battery. ;-)
2. Don't know the innards of the box you describe as it is sealed. My guess is that there is some circuitry to multiplex all the signals together on the limited number of pins of the connector. It shouldn't matter, though. It is plug and play to swap from the non-cruise harness to the one with it.
3. Yes. The dealer uses AMDS to reconfigure the ECU and indicate that the car has cruise control. Since the Aston uses throttle-by-wire, the electronics and software are already present and capable of doing a cruise control function. All that is needed are the actual controls and to notify the ECU they are present.
Cheers.
Greetings. Here are my replies:

Much appreciated. I don't see the harness listed in the EPC as well which would have made this upgrade easier.
Will hunt on eBay for a used wheel.
Also great job on the Dension project!

So in keeping with my goal to continually teach myself new skills, I decided to learn how to do vinyl wraps and experimented on my V8V. I know this won't be to everyone's liking, but keep in mind it is temporary and I can remove it without damage at any point. The vinyl I used is the 3M 1080 Scotchprint in brushed blue steel (Insert Zoolander joke here). I'll probably keep it for a few months and then switch to something else. I'm thinking a black matte or satin roof might be next.
Oh, and thanks to Dave (Racer_X) for the inspiration. See his thread here:
