Vantage clutch noise ? again

Hoping Irish can help? drove my V8 Vantage today after not using for about a week. when you release the clutch in neutral while the motor is running there is a load "clucking" sound coming from the bell housing area?? but you have to release it quite fast.. it has no signs of slipping as I put it in 5th gear at 30 Mile P/h and no slip when i floor the gas!

any comments that can give me comfort will be appreciated? I really dont have the cash now to replace the clutch!! car has 21800Km

That sounds like a throwout bearing on the way out to me. Just a matter of time until complete failure. I'd park the car until you have clutch money, or begin a DIY procedure. Mostly its just unbolting things to get to the clutch, but you do have to remove the driver's side headers which isn't fun (wheel and fender liner have to come off). You just need parts only if you do it yourself.

Its will be in the manual near the clutch assembly pictures.

If and its a big if you can swap it out yourself you might want to do the clutch at the same time if funds allow. Your already have the car torn down and its a good idea if you have 20-30K on the current clutch already.

Probably the same thing. See if your car makes a noise similar to this:

You can see a lot of how a clutch works on You Tube, just look around. I've done clutches and transmissions with just jackstands, no lift. While not fun, its doable with (4) jackstands.

Yes, release bearing. For some reason in the back of my head I remember a vendor here selling a uprated one.

I forget what the book hour is for doing the clutch but figure a solid 12-14 hours if it is your first time and you have all the tools you need. maybe a few hours less if the clutch is in decent spec.

It's hard to fault trace noises unless heard..anything I say would just be an idea versus a logical fault to a concern that had actually heard...are u able to do a video or audio clip of the noise...I really just need a good audio clip with u explaining where the recording is from(inside car from drivers seat), along with a description of what ur doing to get the noise in the recording...with that audio file I can be much more helpful

I have had several cars with the same drivetrain configuration. I have experienced that same sound also. My issue was a torque tube bearing. I am not sure if the V8V has them but I imagine they must. I was able to drive my one Porsche another 122k miles before I needed to replace those bearings. If it were me, I would continue to drive and not worry, just listen for the noise growing louder, particularly when in neutral with the clutch disengaged. A good test for the throwout bearing is to depress the clutch pedal just a little and see how much noise it makes. If it's going bad at that point it should rumble slightly. Sometimes when it's engaged under a full load it isn't as noisy. BTW, this is speculation based on my experiences, of course, there is only one way to know for certain. Hi tend to explore the least costly options first.

Thanks guys for the input Irish I will try to load up a sound but my computer skills are limited, i will try and describe it in more detail.

started it this morn not a sound, (cold) when its hot if you release the clutch from the floor fast in neutral its like a wet shoe on a tiled floor and then as the pedal comes home imagine dropping a lead sinker in the bell hosing? if you depress and release the pedal as one would in a normal manner from a stop street there is no noise> almost as if the clutch when released (in Neutral) turns the drive shaft, the car has no slip in any gear and the clutch operation although harder to depress than my normal sedan operates normally, the sound is coming from the bell housing area - I can confirm this

divetheworld is infamous around these parts
It could be the bearing chatter. Watch this video and listen to the screachy noise at 8 and 10 seconds. We call it bearing chatter.
Is that it?

Uh, forget my last post, your fork/yoke pin may have broken, your description leads me to believe the pin holding the fork/yoke, actuating lever, or whatever term AM may use is snapped. You may want to get it checked as if is broken, it will work until the armature wears or spreads or the other part of the pin/ bolt goes. I suspect that sound against he bell housing is the yoke.
