just had a look at the AM manual it shows a slave cylinder in the bell housing running (fitted ) on the torque tube< I had a look for yoke and find that description is better suited to smaller type (older) cars I may be wrong but i dont think that this model used a yoke?

Any ideas comments

The car has a hydraulic slave bearing..there is no yoke, no fork, the bearing is fixed to the transaxle via bolts and a spacer, it uses hydraulic pressure to perform it's action.

To me as described and looking at the mileage, the friction disc is coming apart. The center damper springs in the friction disc have become loose and when you shock the disc with a fast load that does not carry, the metal damper spring take a hard hit that backs off almost right away.

This is why when you release the clutch soft there is no impact on the damper springs and no noise, but when you release the clutch fast in "N" you hear this concern..this will not cause a slippage "YET" untill the center hubbed section in the disc becomes loose enough to spin freely ..Most prob when you hard launch the car you don't hear the noise right but wonder whats the difference,... well when you launch hard you do put a strain on those damper spring but the load doesn't release right away, the load is carried and gradually released, this is why you might not hear the noise under a launch but do in "N"

..again hard to diagnose noises in txt format, but this would be my guess..you would need a complete clutch asasembly (flywheel/friction disc/diaphram), the slave is best replaced being your in there to do a clutch, but unless the slave is leaking odds are you can save the money for other things(I have yet to replace a slave due to it being faulty on a V8V, have only replaced at clients request for "peace at mind", if this was a warranty claim and clutch was at fault..warranty would not pay to replace the slave)

Agree with irish07

Irish07 diagnosis makes MUCH more sense particularly in light of my ignorance. I would definitely get it checked pretty quick.

Could just be the properties of metal, as it gets hotter and expands is when the noise will sound...only thing I could think of..

Thanks, went off to the dealer this morning, no matter what we did we could not get the clutch to do the noise &*&&^%%% it!!!

Then we get into a clients car who has left his car there for annual service (21600) Km on clock and it has the noise.... suffice to say both AM techs were dumbfounded! having never heard that noise before, I wish you could drive it and assess the car , maybe I should just enjoy it and worry only when it breaks down
