Speed Bleeders?

Anyone have speed bleeders on their brake calipers? I can't find a set specifically for an Aston Martin but I'm sure they fall under many of the available sizes and thread pitch. By chance does anyone know this information? Thanks

Pretty sure brembos are? M10x1.0

I used speedbleeders on my one other car. Hated it. Nothing beats the old fashion two-person bleed.

What? You have gotta be the first person I heard to have said that! Curious why you "hated it"? I beg to differ, I love my Motive Power Bleeder its a shame they don't make an adapter for the Aston Martin otherwise I would be using that. I figured the speed bleeders would be the next best thing.

I will have to use the "it's me it's not them" routine. I never find the reason to bleed the brakes when I am alone (unless maybe zombies have wiped out every one else on earth).

I used them on a race car and also street car. Maybe received a bad batch but they just kept leaking via the threads. In addition to that, I feel more reassured when I actually squat by the caliper and actually seeing bubbles being bled out, while someone pumps the brakes inside.

I do have a fairly decent experience with motiv bleeder in the past.

As for the fitting, perhaps it's a volvo/ford part?

+1 on the thought process... Not that I have heard of many failures... but I bought a set of speed bleeders years back for an NSX I owned and never installed them... Paranoid about introducing a 'more likely to fail than OEM' part into my breaking system... Knowing how I occasionally lean very hard on the brakes I didn't want to chance leaking at all. An imbalance in hard breaking would also be hard to recover from.

If you are not tracking the car and only bleeding the brakes likely at most once a year .. just buy a good vacuum bleeder kit if you really need to do it with one person.. I also agree on 'seeing' whats coming out the bleed hose... and prefer two people.

Besides the safety issues.. leaking break fluid on your wheels and possibly car finish.. is a real mess.

Wow I had no idea that there was no adapter for the Motive. I was going to be doing my brakes in a few weeks and I never thought about checking to see if they even had an adapter. I just assumend that there must be some adapter that would fit that I could order.

Wow,
I had no idea the speed bleeders leaked!! If that's the case than I can see why you wouldn't want to use them. What brand of bleeders did you have? A google search didn't mention much on the topic.

Yea, I was shocked that Motive didn't have an adapter but did say they could make one if there was interest. Maybe we can get some people on this board together and do group buy?

What kind of brake fluid is everyone running?

I grabbed my motive power pleeder and screwed it on and it seemed to fit just fine on the Aston and it seemed like it didnt leak and air. I guess if it leaked all I would have to do is geta little bit thicker rubber seal for the inside of it. I just blew into the hose I didnt actually pressurize it with the pump and I didnt hear anything leaking.

It is the same fitting that I used on my Lotus Elise and my Noble M400 when I had both of those cars.

Cool! Do you mind sharing what adapter you have with your Motive bleeder (there are lots of variations)? My info about Motive not having an Aston adapter came direct from them. But there is so much part sharing going on in the automotive industry maybe there not aware they in fact have an adapter that will work?
Let me know! thanks

I believe that this is the one I bought. I have had it for about 4 years now. I will double check when I get home today and see if there is a model number on it. but the fitting looks very familiar. I will also see if it fit my VW then it will give me a little more confirmation that I am correct on the model.

I checked my bleeder and it does fit on my VW also. it has model number 0109 on the box. So the link I provided a couple of posts up is correct. It is the European adapter that I have on my pressure bleeder.

Thanks everyone! Got it ordered. What kind of brake fluid is everyone using? I'm thinking Motul RBF600 DOT4 brake fluid. It exceeds the DOT4 specification. Curious on what has been used so far.
