That's not a very gentlemanly attack against Bamford Rose on a forum they can't defend themselves on, is it Stuart? I seem to recall RSC, as sponsors here, got them banned for questioning them?

Worse, you are incorrect in what you state. Unlike your products sourced from the racing shelf, BR's products are bespoke, designed by the engineers who designed the original powertrain for the factory.

The Prodrive flywheel is a poor quality 2 piece. Bamford Rose is bespoke 1 piece. The prodrive 2 piece has more weight towards outer edge (bad thing) and the BR design has weight closer to crank centre line (better).

Also, unless the customer specifically want it BR tell me they do not sell the GT4 sintered clutch any longer. They sell a bespoke twinplate organic which is more controllable. The feedback from sportshift customers is that the GT4 sintered Prodrive clutch is a complete error state for the road. Lastly, perhaps BR don't post pictures of the exact spec they sell because they know people copy their work..!

I have a lovely photo of the clutch and flywheel that I will upload later...

And I really hope you manage to measure each component separately like BR have done (also using a third party dyno centre - it's not that hard). If so, can't really compare like for like can we..?

Here is Bamford Rose's quality.
BR is a proven 40BHP on the V8, again and again.
BR have proven durability test cycles around Millbrook test circuit using Pommehogster's car before the kit even went on sale to the public.
BR, as can be seen by the recent JLC European tour, had all their cars on the trip with no error lights, both with V8 and V12 systems.
Pommehogster has done 10k in his V8 with no error lights or durability issues. I have done 10k in my DB9 no error lights or durability issues.
BR are a one stop shop, supply and fit and warranty

What is your outfit offering?

Thanks for the 'stuffy' comments Scotpak. Right as usual... And looking forward to seeing your HREs, an extremely high quality wheel!

Hi Marcos,

I appreciate your dedication to the BR Brand. It is a testament to their company that they have such a large & loyal following who spring to their defense.

I don't agree that it is ungentlemanly or an 'attack' on BR to write what I posted. If you look at my posting history here and on PH, I have always stated publicly and for the record that I think BR is a great company and that they offer great products. Anyone who has had private correspondence with me should report the same. So I am certainly not 'attacking' them. Certainly it is no less gentlemanly or attacking than the posts that are made on Pistonheads regarding my company's products by a group of individuals who loaned their cars to the BR for development. I am not able to defend myself there as they will not allow commercial postings. Same coin, different sides no?

Anyway, it was simply a statement of fact. I am aware that BR had developed their own flywheel, however as I stated, recent posts had indicated that they were fitting also the Prodrive part. Here is the photo of the clutch that they posted and said they had fitted to a customer's car on May 1st. This is the Prodrive Part with seperate ring gear:

This is a photo from May 14th, shows a different flywheel:

So it doesn't appear to be a case of not posting photos so people wouldn't 'copy' parts.

I'm also glad that you brought up testing and the durability of parts. I congratulate BR for having vehicles that have achieved 10,000 miles of hard driving with their components fitted and with no error states or failures. Velocity's exhaust systems and performance catalysts have been supplied and fitted since 2007 with literally hundreds of units sold for both the Vantage and the DB9. I know of vehicles that have now done over 50,000 miles with these products installed and who are still extremely happy with the build quality and performance. Going round Millbrook sounds great but I don't need to send a car round there to know that my products are of exceptional quality, as they have been in existence for 6 years now and still going strong.

I am a little confused though, because on the one hand you have explained some of the rigorous testing that has been done with BR products, but on the other hand you state that they no longer fit the Prodrive sintered clutch because their customer have reported that it causes error states when fitted to the paddle shift cars? There can't have been very much testing done on that product if this is the case. I would have thought that a factory trained engineer who built the race cars would have know that this would be the case?

At any rate, you are correct, the sintered friction material is not as forgiving as organic material, which is why we offer the choice of both types of material in the clutch friction plates.

I second that, apology necessary. Stuart didn't say anything negative about them, you snapped at him for no reason Marcos... Gentleman rules apply

Marcos91, your Union Jack is showing! Your not very gentlemanly response does not reflect well on either you or the fine gentlemen at BR. I'm betting they would not endorse your response.

Im not on any side but I thought forums like this were to explore ideas and options for the pursuit of knowledge and informed choices. Debate is important for this to happen.

I'm all in on debate. Debate is presenting your POV not attacking the debater.

With all due respect:

Debate is contention in argument; dispute, controversy; discussion; especially the discussion of questions of public interest in Parliament or in any assembly (Wikipedia)

The above suggests that argument is present in debate and I have yet to see an argument where attacking was not evident.

If my 'attack' came across as personal towards Stuart, then that was indeed a mistake on my part and I apologise to him wholeheartedly. We have never met and I hope we do in the future if for nothing more than to have a chat about his Triumph!

It's not a Uniion Jack unless it's on a ship, it's a Union Flag... and Stuart is also a Brit, albeit a potentially reluctant one

More later when not at work, I was just alerted by someone that my head had been called for...
