Bring into the US a 73 Aston from the UK
Hi, Has any one shipped an older car from the UK into the US? It is a 1973 AMV8 race/ street car. I found a shipping company that delivers to dock in Long Beach, but, I do not want to assume that that is it. I think that is when the real party begins.......Any ideas or advice ?
Thanks, Ken
Thanks, Ken
Hi AstonDoc,
Welcome to the forum.........Not many Drs on here you know!
There is a company near me, in Birmingham Michigan, called AutoEurope that always seems to have a lot of cars imported from the UK for sale. They seem to carry all sorts of cars all ages so I would give them a call.
I have broached the subject with them in the past, but they were a little cagey of giving away the intimate details of their operation - They didn't really know me and I suspect they didn't want me doing telling what they wanted to charge for. At the time I was looking to bring my 911 from the UK and I was trying to find away around the official import and federalization route which was, at the time, going to cost circa $10K just to get the car inspected and certified as being up to US standards.
Nevertheless, I would give them a call, explain your full situation, and see if they can help you. I will also touch base with a friend of mine that is currently in the process of importing an old 911 (1960s I think) that he owns and see if I can outline the steps that he is taking for you. I will not see him until later in the week though, so in the meantime give AutoEurope a shake and see what they say.
