Help:AstonMartin Indep.shop in McLeanVA?

Dear AM members,

Been a 996 owner for a while and I am about to pull a trigger on an older V8 Vantage.

Would really appreciate if if anyone can suggest a good independent shop that repairs Aston Martins near McLean, Virginia (or nothern virginia).

Thank you in advance~!

I'm also a McLean resident. I picked up a V8 Vantage Roadster a couple of months ago and while the annual service isn't due until December, I too would like to know if there are any Aston shops in the area.

Prior to getting the Vantage I had a couple of Porsches and I always took them to Intersport (on Spring Hill Rd.) for service. Art, my mechanic at Intersport, says he's done work on Astons before and he can take care of me. I have no doubt he can handle most of the service work but it would be nice to have a backup -- especially someone who specializes in Astons -- in case a major issue comes up.

-Gary

P.S. Are you shopping at Aston Martin of Tysons? Which Vantage are you considering? They had a really nice 2007 Vantage Coupe in silver but I ended up getting the Roadster.

Thank you Gary!

Yes, Art at Intersport is all around great guy and has taken care of my Porsche for many years as well. He will be my go to guy for general maintenance. I am also aware of IMA Motorsport Inc. in Chantilly, but my understanding was that they also specialize in Porsche (they have a turbo kit for NA 911s).

But like you, I wanted to know if there were any independent shops that specialize Astons in Northern VA. In essence, I am looking for another Art for Aston Martin. ^^

I am planning to pick up my new to me 2007 Vantage coupe in NY next weekend.
Will upload pictures when I introduce myself to the AM forum.

By the way, how does it compare to a Porsche?

Now...if only AM owners can chime in...are we stuck with AM dealer in Tysons??

Cheers
-Charles

Thanks again Gary.

Not an Aston Specialist 'per se' but I know Josh and his team have worked on a lot of Gaydon-era Astons, including several 6speeders. I would highly recommend checking them out, they are in Sterling so not too far from you.

Thank you Stuart!
Their website indicates that they service Aston Martins. Its also a good sign that an Aston is parked in front of their store.

I would call them for sure. Josh is a super-nice guy, real straight-forward.

Oh cool. I've passed by ECS (they're a couple of doors down from Sterling Arsenal) and there's always an older Ferrari or Lotus parked outside. I've never seen Astons though. I'll check them out next time I need to buy ammo.

Astons are not hugely technical though they have quirks like indexing a new clutch that would drive a non-Aston specialist nuts....

I like the guys in the shop at AM of Washington, its a good dealership. They don't nickel / dime you like some places do (my experience) and spend the time talking to you about your car and the service. Straightforward.... I think that most any other shop around here you'll be finding a general tech who can easily do the work until some of those oddball stumpers come up.

Dear lovemyaston,

Good to hear that you are getting a great service. I just like to have few backups available. There are indi shops with mechanics who are more trained and informed than dealers; as I have found with my porsche. The indi shop I used for porsche sometimes gets cars from the dealers that they can't fix or figure out Funny but true. The shop also takes care of weekend racers and track people; thus very extensive knowledge about the car~!

I was looking for a hope like that for my Aston.
