To the intent of this thread; Astons are definitely more GT than sports car - there is no denying that. Aston's are handbuilt by craftsmen. It's like buying a hand carved peice of furniture in many respects. It is not going to have all of the technology associated with building masses of Ikea furniture and will be not only more delicate but need very different care. The Ikea furniture simply gets thrown away but the hand crafted furniture becomes an heirloom.

Mustangs with V6s in them are making over 300hp now days. Technology in cars has gotten ridiculous.

A Lambo is more of a pure sportscar than an Aston. Definitely faster but look at what it is!

A GTR is a videogame and a horrible drivers car IMO. Any amateur can get in, press a few buttons and win a drag race. On a track or in the mountains; it doesn't matter what electronics and how much power you have - weight is weight and inertia around a turn is undeniable. If you were to remove all of the electronic nannies from an Aston and GTR then the GTR would win nothing.

There was a great video that I've mentioned before where they had a pro driver drive the ISF and M with and without traction/stability control. The M was definitely a handful but the chassis alone spoke for the engineering where the ISF was said to handle like a RWD camry and the chassis without the electronics governing every aspect of the car was horrific. Its the same thing when comparing an Aston with a GTR. Driving an Aston is sign of class and not having to prove anything.

Lambo = Sportscar
Aston = GT

Why not turn traction control off? Can't disable AWD in a GT-R, just like you can't disable RWD in the Aston (well, I guess you could - but why?).

There - even.

Your post was funny.

Thanks for catching my typo, bravo! I am not turning in a term-paper and not interested in correct grammer on a car forum. Why are you so angry at anyone who does not have your point of view on cars? You want to insult me, get to know me first, and get out from behind your keyboard and meet with me.
What is really funny is that your response is on the same level of maturity as GTR owners who get really defensive at porsche owners calling them 'just nissans'.

I respect and love cars, yet I have my preferences as we all do. A GTR is very impressive for what it can do at its price point, I would never want one though. I hate the way it drives and looks.

For the life of me, I can't understand why some get so defensive when someone says their car brand is not their preference and has some legitimate negative attributes. Italian exotics owners always insult the GT2 and say its not loud and exotic enough, nor does it stand out. I could care less what they think nor do I disagree with them. They have a valid point, but I don't care about how exotic or special my car looks like. Again I have a different perspective of what I want from my car, not wrong or right, just different.

The DBS was designed to be the best GT it could be. Not the fastest, not the best on the track. And now the new Vanquish is again, not even trying to be the fastest or the tracky-est.

Not every exotic is trying to be a racing car. Lamborghini has the strange position of building super performance cars with no racing intent (club racing aside). But in spite of that, they build with performance at the top of their list. Aston simply does not develop cars that way. Example? The body of the Vantage is not aerodynamically optimized. Why, because it was designed to be beautiful first, fast second. These cars are not "better" than one another, they are just different.
Ibisrider,
I agree with what you are saying and appreciate your respectful and tactful style of explaining it. Have a great day!

For anyone that wants to tear the hell out of some Lambos, check this out.http://esperienza.lamborghinievents.com/ A whole day of track time behind the wheel of LP's and Aventadors for the price of a track day driving your own car. No nannies, and you get to take the cars out with friends as copilots instead of "coaches" if you want. Not a bad deal. I even hear the foods good. I'll be in Florida in December.

As for the **** slinging about brands...who the **** cares. Buy a car because you like it, not because others do. All the cars mentioned are hardly anything to sneer at, GT-R's included. One thing I can say about the Aston vs. Gallardo/LP debate is that I've never seen an Aston that you can use like this.... Michigan winters be damned.

I test drove a Gallardo while my V8V was getting serviced and I hated it. I'm definitely not interested in a Lamborghini after that.

Not defending XJRS's comments, but you did go onto an Aston forum and say Astons are "damn slow," not that they are just "not to your liking." You've been around long enough to know that'll ruffle some feathers. Just sayin'.

XJRS, you have made two posts to this thread. One dismissive, one personally offensive. You may want to try making constructive, positive observations and contributions. The original poster asked a reasonable question as can be seen.

The expectation here is for a higher level of discourse. Just suggesting a new way of communicating your ideas.

Yeah! Why do people always get offended when I tell them I'd like their girlfriend a lot more if only she'd lose some weight?

For most people these cars are emotional purchase decisions that are their pride and joy. Not really an open door for criticism.

Lambos are still lame and if you come on this forum and say Astons suck, you might be courting a 'offensive' post or two.

Yeah, their V12's are so unreliable that they are routinely swapped for a small block Chevy...Oh wait, that's Jaguar. Saying ALL lambos are lame is laughable. If you look at a Miura and think it's lame, or hear a Murci V12 at 8k and think it's lame, then there is no help for you.

Should have been more specific, since the thread is really regarding the Galllardo, which is lame (as is the wannabe R8 with V10). I would buy a Miura or 400GT in a heartbeat. Diablo, Murcielago, Aventador OK. Countach...another Lamebo.
