First Drive - Center Console ?

Put my first 35 miles on her today .... Smiles all the way --- with one exception..

WTF is with the center console ? My elbow sits in the cup holder which makes shifting a PITA ...Is there a way to adjust ? or maybe purchase another one of those leather things for the elbow ?

BTW - If thats the worst thing about the car its absolutely an amazing ride....

Actually, that pretty much is the worst thing, if it bothers you. I've heard others make this same complaint but I find the console a really nice spot for my elbow. i don't get what so uncomfortable for you folks who find it so.

I don't even have the little leather puck thing, who's purpose I suspect is to address this very issue.

Well since you asked, here are some of the other "things", you decide which is the worst:
1. No way to play audio from a device that's not an iPod or iPhone, like say, my HTC android phone (grrrrrr).
2. No AC in the seats. Yeah, this is a personal preference of mine and I don't understand why more cars don't at least offer it. And you've got a black on black car in southern Florida. I wouldn't even get in that thing 6 months of the year.
3. ummmm, it's not as fast as some other cars.

Yeah, it's a great car. The biggest problem you are likely to encounter is just wanting greater versions of it. So start saving up for an S and then a V12.

My guess its the length of the drivers arm from hand to elbow - taller drivers with longer arms may not have this issue. Also the height of the armrest/console is a bit high... Coming from 911's this is a new feeling for me and one I am sure to get accustom to over time...

If I am not mistaken the S does not have a 3rd pedal - if thats the case there will not be one in my future ....

Bottom line - today was euphoric and this weekend should be even better as I have all day to play ....

arm rest

I had an 07 manual shift, with the old center console. When they switched to the new design in 08, many complained. It's amazing they did not take care of it when the first complaints came in. My 09 is a Sportshift, so no problem

For years, us Apple owners had to put up with not having our devices supported and having only one shelf of software titles at CompUSA and Best Buy compared to 300 shelves full of Microsoft products. It's funny to see how the tables have turned for the underdog. Payback's a *****.

It's probably not as big a deal to those owners of Sportshift cars because they don't have to row the gears. When I first saw the newer center console design, I wanted to get one for my car because I wished I had more storage space in the cabin. After reading all the complaints through the years, I'm glad I stuck with the older style.

Oh, and you can get an S with a manual box.

Andrew, have you given any thought to my offer? PM me.

My old style 05 console is actually not that bad comparatively.............It was made 100% better by eliminating the flip up ash tray lid.........(Manual db-9)

My short, stubby T-Rex type arms work pretty well in the Vantage. Sometimes the elbow ends up in the cup holder too, but I got used to it. Will probably buy the puck also, one of these days.

Congratulations on your new car!
