Clear bra paint protection

How many have the vinyl protection on your hood?

I can't see how they would do it without covering the whole hood, and until yesterday that seemed excessive to me.

Already got my first chip.

I've got hood protection. Wouldn't do w/o it after seeing its effectiveness.

I've got a standard kit covering the leading 1/3 of the hood, headlights, full front bumper, sill panel below the doors, the half-moon on the rear fenders, side mirrors, and door handles. The stuff on the front has definitely taken a bit of beating. I've also got the AM mud-flappy stone guard things behind the front wheels.

You can see the line across the hood if you're closer than about 8 feet and the light is right, but it doesn't bother me as much as rock chips would.

Park Place Aston can touch up your rock chip and apply the film.

How about appearance after a good polish and wax?

On my old Escalade, you could clearly see the lines all the time, and they didn't shine up. As it aged pollen and dust got caught up in the edges and it looks terrible.

A full front clearbra is optimal, it's more expensive but its completely seemless. I do custom clearbra everytime I do a car (only do this with the absolute BEST professionals).

Xpel and Venturesheild are the two best films. Stay away from 3M clearbra, its orange peel is terrible and they yellow over time.

I have the entire front of my car done, hood, bumper, front quarters, mirrors, definitely helps. You do NOT want to polish the film, wax only. Mine has been on for over 4 years with no peeling, yellowing, etc. In fact I bought mine used and did not realize it had the entire hood done until a few months later, it is seamless.

I have film on my 2007, put on by the first owner. Quite frankly I don't like it much and other than the area immediately in front of the rear fenderwells I'd just as soon not have it on there because it really does interfere with the beauty of the paint. As it ages it needs to be replaced as well - I've already taken some off my car and paint chips - got a couple here and there but they're not a huge deal.

i had the 1/3-hood coverage of the optional clear vinyl wrap, but i was told it isn't even made anymore. i now have my whole front end wrapped. nobody has ever noticed without close inspection. it's definitely worth it if you want to keep your paint in its best condition.

I had the entire front end covered as well, hood, front quarters, bumper, mirrors, headlights, and rocker panels. You have to look really close to see any seams and it's been holding up well.

Things happen......I wouldn't be without it. It's paid for itself. Get it done by a pro. I think mine is called the 31" version. The entire front, quarter and about 1/3 of the hood. It's on Titanium silver and hard to notice. Don't forget the mirrors!

I have it too. On my car (Quantum Silver) you can't see it at all and it gives me more confidence on the highway while driving behind other motorists.

I have it on the hood up to the rear-most part of the headlights and the same on the front fenders, the front bumper, the mirrors and the factory pieces on the rear fenders. I also have the stone guards behind the front wheels.

I didn't cover the whole hood because the paint (Onyx Black) is so extraordinarily glossy, deep and free of orange peel that I didn't want to cover any more of it than necessary. Even the very best film takes a little away from the gloss and depth of the paint's appearance. On my car, you can see the line if you look fairly closely and the light hits it from some angles, but after 4 years it hasn't deteriorated. Basically, I covered the most vulnerable areas and left the rest alone to be seen at its best. It's always a compromise, but I'm happy with mine.

The first 1/3 of my hood has protection and it has helped a lot! I also have protection on my side mirrors as well. Protection on the side mirrors is a must IMO!

I did the whole front of the car, side skirts, and rear quarter panels on both my Astons. Afterwards I had the car fully detailed and unless you knew it had been wrapped you could not tell. The detailing helps a lot.
