Fuse position vs user manual (errors?)

I was looking to change the cigarette lighter (power socket) fuse, and the manual says, #F45 the fuse looks fine. I pull a spare that is supposed to be in F55, and its burned. so i find another fuse to exchange and F45 is fine.

what the heck, F55 is supposed to be a "spare" , but its burned, "what if it is actually a used socket and burned?" so i change it out, and low and behold, the cigarette lighter comes to life. so, i wonder what F45 fuse is responsible for.

Is the fuse layout from the manual, that riddled with errors?

another thing i noticed , was that the position of the rear trunk release button the interior door lock button are switched vs the manual. the trunk release is nearest to the driver and lock is by the passenger side, but in the manual, the picture shows it being the opposite. weird.... did someone take it apart and mix up the positions? they both do what they are supposed to do.

all this on an '06 vantage

FWIW, when I went to pull the exhaust fuse (in trunk fuse box) there were several fuses in that row, off by 1 position as compared to the manual

I just figured this was part of the whole British electrics experience

anyone else notice any errors here in the fuse box pin outs? Seems pretty lame that they cant get at least that kind of stuff right.

I doubt it's "wrong" by design or factory build. Does your car have some sort of checkered history with perhaps flood, rear end damage, or had a replacement wiring harness fitted for other reasons?

No, its a clean, low mileage car (22k miles) Well, as far as I know.
But its very odd, esxpecially if fuse 55 is the the cigarette lighter fuse vs the manual saying it should be F45. Fuse 55 should be a spare according to the manual.
Its a small pain to remove the 8 Torx, I don't think anyone will voluntarily check their car to see, but other fuses seem to be correct, like the trunk mounted cigarette lighter (F77, which is just on the other row of F55)
almost seems like a manual typo.

I don't
My S has the exhaust on 22 in the manual when it is 15
It has the Volvo sat nav info when it is a Garmin

My previous car had the manual for the 4.3 in it when it was a 4.7

AM aren't very good at keeping the manual up to date, resulting in these sort of issues, as they just stick the "current" manual in

I notice my manual lists 55 for the Accessory/Cigar Lighter and 45 says "not available" - whatever that means - so perhaps it is just that you have an early version of the owners manual that has a typo, or perhaps there was a production change that had not yet been caught up in the publication version of your manual

The version of your owners manual should be listed on the lower corner of one of the early pages. Mine is on page 1.4.

Good, so im not crazy! yes, my manual is different than yours for sure.
mine is Issue 2 - Feburary of 2006 (page 1.2)

F55 on the fuse panel list says, 20amp - Spare and F45 has it listed as "accessory socket illumination". there is nothing that points to a power socket in the cabin but that, and the rear trunk accessory power socket is correct at F-77.

in the trunk, i have a F22 and it is the exhaust bypass valve and vacuum pump. tell me about this. i heard some pull the fuse, but then it creates a emmissions warning. what does it make it louder when idleing?

^^^ No, it will not make your car any louder when idling. It will make your car louder and better sounding under load in the 1,500-4,000 RPM range. And you will not get a check engine light whoever said that is either misinformed or was misinterpreted. It may log a fault code in the ECU but it will be only visible using the AM diagnostic software.

Yep, I was at the shop to look at what they charge to do my door lock replace, and asked about that. yep, that's exactly what they said. no warning lights, but a code will be logged. they also said when dynode, someone saw a 20hp loss. maybe in the low rpm range (torque loss) but I imagine it wouldn't effect top end, as the exhaust is open at that point anyway even with the vacuum pump activated exhaust gates open.

My '12 V8V-S has a fuse box under that passenger foot panel that is completely unlisted in the user manual. I attached a radar detector to the dome light and briefly grounded it. Of course that immedately blew the fuse but I couldn't find the correct reference in the users manual. I took it to the dealer where they immedately removed the foot panel. I asked them where that was in the manual... after they flipped thru the book for 20 minutes, they conceded that the entire fuse set was omitted.

I know. I was looking for it, but in no way could i imagine that the would have 6-8 Torx bolts on a plate, covering it. Its set up like it should never be touched or accessed. anyway, thanks for the list here, to guide me even with a picture!
