A sad day..
A sad day..
Thinking of selling my 2005 DB9. Although I'll miss it terribly, the plan is to start shopping for a DBS and pull the trigger in the spring.
My question is what I should be asking for my DB9? It's a black/black absolutely beautiful and rare 6 speed car with 23,000 miles. Just installed new Michelin Pilot SS tires and the car has great service history. Most of the cars similar to mine in the marketplace currently are auto.. Can I expect to get a premium for mine being a 6 speed? I'd welcome any opinions or thoughts.
Thanks in advance.

Consideration: The potential timing of your planned transactions.... your thinking of selling in winter ( lower demand ) and buying in spring ( higher demand ) You do live in WI, right? All the best in your search. A DBS is a nice prize!!
Put some photos up, speedracer800! Let's see your DB9...who knows, someone here may know a buddy looking for one. Don't forget to list the options, etc.
I don't think you can get a premium for one transmission vs the other...there are enough manuals out there for all the models that they are not particularly hard to find (even manual trans DBS's)

Gorgeous! Start looking at the prices on the Bay, cars.com and autotrader to get an idea of the asking prices. If one disappears contact the seller and ask what it went for. I'm also looking at NADA prices as a gauge, but those are retail prices. If you operate like me, you'll buy high and sell low. Good luck with the sale.
Thanks for the compliments. Yes, it's super clean and in nearly perfect condition. I'm very particular as most of us are. I realize it's not the best time of year to be selling in my area (near Chicago), but these days the car could certainly sell and go anywhere.

I have been shopping for another AM to add to the garage. The DBS is a great choice. If I were you, I would look for an 09-10 with a 6-speed and under 10K miles. I would think that your car would trade for about 50-55. Please don't shoot the messenger on that number. There are DBS for about 150-155. So I would count on a net 100K or a bit less. Your best position will be the last week of the year during a snow storm.
Jay, that's actually where I was thinking a wholesale number would be also.. I was hoping for around 65k now if I were to sell it. Seem reasonable? Just did a search on autotrader and there are only 4 05-06, 6 speed DB9's listed currently.
You can sell it privately and request a courtesy trade if you buy the next car through a dealer or a broker. This will save you money on taxes. You may get 60+ privately. I had great success buying a used car in the dead of winter from Chicago. In fact, when I struck the deal, they were recovering from 2 feet of snow and had to plow the car out of their lot before they shipped it to me.
I'm thinking the same as you, JM. One of these days I'll add another AM to the stable. An Fcar and an AM in my garage would be the perfect pairing for me.
I'm all over the place. One minute it's a DBS coupe then it's a V8S roadster. Having a car that I really like is making the decision difficult.
The Ferrari 599 is something I'm also considering. Can't believe how much the pricing on those has fallen! What an amazing car for 180k.
Jay, what is this "courtesy trade" you're referring to. I certainly understand the tax savings of trading but I'm not really sure what you're referring to.
