I have trouble starting my DB9 when there is 1/4 tank or less. It usually will not crank on the first try. Sometimes it can take 3. It cranks perfectly any other time. I have searched the forums with solutions.

Have any of you experienced this problem?

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean it will not crank? Not cranking is an electrical system-related issue, not a fuel system-related one. Are you saying you push the starter button and nothing happens or does the engine turn over but just doesn't fire up?

I'm sorry. I wasn't detailed enough.
The starter turns the engine over and it does so with plenty of juice.
I am wondering if it may be a fuel filter, pump or pickup issue.

The is any issue on early db9 that the fuel drains back into the tank. The fix is installing new fuel lines with check valves, from the fuel filters to the tank. All of this is internal to the tank. If you have a coupe this maybe costly, but if is a volante should be fairly reasonable.

I've had the "low fuel light" on a couple of times on my MY07 DB9. Happy to say never an issue starting. As always the education / info on this forum is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks.
For now I will continue to keep it over 1/4 tank. I may perform the fix when it warms up.

I have the same issue in my '06 DB9 Volante. With OBDII scanner I noticed that fuel pressure goes down very quickly when pump stops. Could you help me with a part number of the lines with check valves?

There's no part number for the check valve itself. It's integrated in the fuel pump. The pump up to '07 is on perpetual backorder last I checked. The '08 to '12 is orderable and physically fits, but the connector to the fuel pump will need to be swapped over from old to new. Otherwise the connector will fit on the filter, but the locking mechanism is incompatible.

Also, don't rule out leaking injectors. That will give you a similar leak-down symptom. Injectors are a lot easier and cheaper to replace.

Maybe you are right. I have also a lumpy idle (misfires). I wanted to change coils but maybe the reason are bad injectors.
To check injectors, I need to go to the workshop where they will do flow tests or I can check it by myself? It would be much easier.
Injectors are manufactured only for AM or fits also to the other cars?

I had this exact issue with my 07 DB9. 1/4 and below, it wouldn't start the first time. Would always have to fully key cycle to eventually get it started. It ended up being a weak fuel pump for me. Just replace both while you're having the tank out.
