I distinctly remember one errand in particular. Wife says, Oh we are out of eggs, butter, and chocolate chips. I wanted to make cookies later tonight... I jumped off the couch turned off Top Gear UK eager to run the errand for her.

As I drove out of our subdivision I thought "the grocery store is just 1.5 miles away, but I know there is a new location that just opened up and it's about 12 miles away- I'll do that!" Then as I am mentally checking the short list of 3 items, a brilliant plan developed! If I forget the Chocolate chips I can return home only to then "discover" my error and then I would be sent out again!

AND- they don't sell chocolate chips at the local corner store so it's back to the full on grocery store 12 miles away! -Splendid!

Hey 07sportspack; I'm in central FL too. I think we need to meet and compare cars. We should probably meet somewhere along the Blue Ridge Parkway.


[this is both a response to making short trips long because, Aston Martin, that's why: and a sarcastic jab at the fact that there really aren't any fun places to drive in Florida. Which is ironic considering how many wonderful driver's cars there are in this state of flat, straight roads littered with cops. Then again, I did hit 120 in a pick up game of 1 on 1 with an '02 Saleen last weekend...]

 

Something about watching TOP GEAR UK makes me always want to go for a drive! This is so true that I have stopped watching it late at night before I go to bed because I can't sleep and all I want to do is drive. So I now reserve it to early evening or weekend viewings. It only takes one episode and then I'm off to "top off the tank" (fill it from 3/4 full to FULL) or "check tire pressures" (drive to an air pump, deflate about 5 pounds then replace with 5 pounds). Nonsense like that!

Sure, the Blue Ridge parkway is just a little north of us....right!

 

I am anxiously awaiting awaiting delivery of my recently purchased 2010 Vantage and look forward to finding many excuses to drive it. The first excuse....receiving the car of my dreams of course

 

Time to check the tire pressures again. Honey I'll be back in an hour!
