My Valentine's Day Tradition
My Valentine's Day Tradition
As the most single guy ever, I'm always alone on Valentine's Day. I cannot get a date to save my life. So I've taken to doing things that are within my realm of capabilities. It's either buying car parts or tackling a project on one of my cars, or just going for a drive to anywhere and back again.
Tonight's agenda:
1) Grill a 16-oz steak with some carrots, pan-sear some kale and shallots, and mix up some qoinoa (supposedly the stuff is healthy).
2) Eat the aforementioned meal while my dogs chomp on some rawhides.
3) Empty 10-qts of liquid gold-priced oil into my Aston and a bottle of wine into me.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable evening!

Enjoy the evening… too bad you can't take the Aston out beforehand. We've had so much snow here in Northern NJ that it will be weeks before the car gets a proper work-out. Note: Being the most single guy ever is an interesting way to describe yourself. I've been married for almost 33 years and I almost feel like the most married guy ever. Cheers mate!
Um, I think Hugh Heffner might be the "most" married guy ever.
But maybe we need to define "most".
For me, looking forward to walking to the bowling alley with my girl tonight. The biggest downside is that it's not far enough to bother starting the Vantage.

Sorry, just finalized my very expensive divorce in December. I count myself lucky that my garage isn't empty.

Unfortunately, just before I arrived, the city came by and started digging up the sewer lines, because of freezing issues. So, we abandoned the plan, and went with steaks and Guiness instead
Ha...thanks for the thought. I still have my DB9, Triumph TR8, 1969 AMX, !970 AMX, and 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T. Plan on keeping them also.

So the oil change is really straight forward and pretty easy. Takes a little time because you have to drain a few places, but otherwise not too bad at all.
Until I got to the front bypass filter. More specifically, when I got to the stripped bolt that is not coming out. Tried everything, including cutting it so I could use a flat-head screwdriver. That sucker isn't moving. So I guess I'll be swinging by a shop and having them remove it for me.
I will say, though, that I'm not feeling too hot about this "once a year or every 10k miles" thing. I'm sure it's fine, but the oil that came out of my car was disgusting. I think I'll start changing mine every 6 months or so. End of winter and mid-summer should be good. I'm saving so much money doing it myself that it's worth doing it twice per year instead of just once.
Wow, well done! Also, you just aged yourself seeing as I'm... not even 33 years old
Take the scenic route next time! I used to bowl all the time as a kid. I was so-so, not great but not bad for a kid. Then I didn't play for a decade or two... and now I'm happy when I manage breaking into the triple digits lol.
Sorry to hear it, I hope you come through it alright! Based on all the cars you're keeping, seems like you're going to be okay
Great minds think alike! Does your daughter help out in the garage or is she not interested in your toys?

Wow! Can't believe how similar this is to my plan. Being involuntarily single for 2 years now, I got my daughter off to her tournament a little early. Picked up a huge parts order for one of the race cars (bearings, hubs, plugs, belts, gaskets,,etc) and headed for my friends shop.

I had the same problem and if you are handy with a small 4" grinder, you can slowly remove the head of the bolt without damaging (heating) the underlying plate. Remove the other bolt and plate assembly. With the tension released on the bolt shank, it should unscrew relatively easily (vise-grip perhaps?). Replace with metric Allen head cap screws and you are good to go, never to be bothered with torx head bolts again.

I'm working on it.......I JUST met a real nice lady that seems to be into me as much as I'm into her. I took her to the Chicago Auto Show two days ago as she's shopping for a new car and I made myself indispenible in helping her shop. Spent the night at her place. I am cultivating this one carefully. I am also fairly early in my divorce process although I've been separated for about 19 months now. I do local meetup groups also.
This picture tells it all. For me, I've gone through it twice and if I ever think of marrying again I'll just "Go find a woman I don't like and buy her a house." It seems to always end that way, I'll avoid the lawyers and all the emotion.
That's not the first time I've heard that theory........
