I have had the porterfield for two years, no squeal, low dust. Bite is as hard as you press the brake pedal. In normal street and highway driving you will not notice the difference between this pad and stock IMO.

Are the pads the same for 2010+ as 2007-09 model V8 Vantage?

No the calipers go from a 4 piston, to a 6 piston. So the pads are different around the 12 model year range V8s.

Yes, Carbotech are the most quiet pads you can get for aston application. Zero dust too bc they are a true ceramic pad, performance is equal to stock. It's a street pad, not meant for tracking but I really liked them for aston application.

see my other post regarding brake pads.

Love carbotech 1521 absolutely no noise, dust is probably 2-5% compared to orginals

I have carbotech 1521 on my 2009 DB9, no noise at all, dust is down to may be 5%.
I had similar post not too long ago.

Are you running the Carbotech pads on a V8 or V8S model?

Thanks

One interesting note from the Carbotech website FAQ: if you were running a different brand of pad previously, you must have your rotors resurfaced before installing the Carbotech pads. Just FYI for those like me who are planning what labor and cost is involved.

As I understand it, and I might be misinformed, most manufacturers recommend that. During the bed-in process, pad material is transferred to the rotor. When changing to a different type of pad, you'll have two different materials and it may prevent the pads from working as well as they should. It also often results in brake squeal. Resurfacing gets rid of the original pad material from the rotors.

Hi folks,

Two questions for you:

1. How do you know when to replace brake pads on a Vantage, i.e. how many millimeters remaining is the recommended minimum?

2. Is it safe to resurface the stock rotors, and if so how much material must be remaining after you do it?

Minimum recommended pad thickness is 2.5 mm front and rear.
Minimum recommended rotor thickness is 30 mm front and 26 mm rear.
YMMV

Thanks Don. I wonder how much material resurfacing takes off the rotors. If I'm going to start with new pads it seems better to have a clean surface.

By the way, has anyone found a U.S. supplier for the Wilwood two piece rotor upgrade/replacements?

VelocityAP is the original vendor for these brakes, we co-developed with Wilwood. We still have the best pricing around. PM me or email Stuart@VelocityAP.com for pricing.

Ships from California.

I have done an experiment with my Porsche Cayenne because the original pads dusted horribly. I put Carbotech 1521 on the front and Porterfield R4-S on the rear and the carbotech dust less than the porterfields even tho they are on the front which is always worse at dusting. Both are much better than stock though. I have had no squeal from the carbotech but getting a little from the porterfields also. So I am going to order the Carbotechs for the Aston!
