DB9 Volante Sub Solution

DB9 Volante Sub Solution
I replaced the Linn Sub with a Kicker 40 CWRT 102 10" Sub and covered the box with Dynamat sound dampning material.

The sub now has more punch and less splat! A very noticeable difference from stock. The small box still doesn't allow for maximum response. Part of the problem is the lack of strength in the plastic stock box. I do not know what Linn/AM was thinking or how they thought it was quality. They only needed to fabricate a sturdier box which would eliminate much of the problem. When the sound pressure levels rise, the sides of the box give, decreasing resistance on the back of the sub and increasing cavitaion of the sound wave.
This is not a total fix, but an inexpensive solution to increase the quality. My next step will be to re-enforce the stock sub box with fiberglass, stiffening the walls.
