Fuel Line Warning!!!

My DB9 has 33k miles on it. After an hour drive I noticed the smell of gas. I reasoned it off that I had just filled up and had probably spilled some. On the return trip, I noticed my gas gauge dropping way too fast. I pulled over and saw gas pouring down the passenger side right onto the exhaust. I cut it off until could investigate further. The intermediate fuel lines that run from the fuel rails back down to the main line had developed a leak. Right by the retainer, the lines appears to have gotten so hot it melted. I think this should be investigated by AM.This is a very dangerous situation. I was lucky the car did not burst into flames. Has anyone else experienced this?

And of course AM wants $375 for a new set. You can have a local shop make you new one for $50.

Leak in fuel line

Can you tell the material that failed? Should be steel. Looks like it has a heat shield covering it, did it fail as well? Was the line rubbed through at the retaining clip? More info please. Is this a plastic line, looking at your pics again its black, maybe molded in color? Also, looks to have been pierced, perhaps by the clip, at the assembly plant, dealer service?

Its a plastic, not metal. It was right where the clip is. If you look at the pic, you can just see where the edge of the clip started to melt. there was no heat shield st the clip. I added some.
