New to Aston Martin

I've been on the forum a few years while I drove a 996. Now changing groups as I Just purchased my first AM, 2006 DB9 volante. Bought it in Miami last Saturday evening and drove it back to Montgomery on Sunday. Love it so far. This is my daily driver and I prefer to do pretty much all repairs myself.

I have a couple of issues with it.
1)The rear glass separated from the top in heat of my office parking lot. Saw plenty of repair posts on that and will tackle it today.
2)The gas access lid does not open with the button under the dash although the button seems to have power since it lights up red. It opens easily with the cable pull in the trunk so I don't think the strut is the issue. Can't find a relay in the book labeled for that particular use. Anyone know what to check next?
3)The doors don't like to stay open nor does the hood. I've read some posts on replacing the struts. Is there a preferred parts supplier for these online or is it better to go dealer?

Thanks for any advise
Tom

Thanks for the link, I ordered a first aid kit, front wheel splash guards and wheel locks. They did not ask for any charge card info though.

Regarding problem #2. My vantage had same issue, and responded in same way as yours. It was a dead gas cap strut. These do seem to usually be the issue.

Open the filler door. Locate the latch release. Then have someone push the button on the dash, while you observe if the release is working. My guess is its working, but the strut is supplying no pressure to release the door.

Good luck, hope it's just the strut, that's an easy fix

Thanks for the info.

I'll test the gas filler door strut as suggested tomorrow.

Who is Stuart with?
