Clear Bra on New GT Roadster?
Clear Bra on New GT Roadster?
Getting mine next week (I can't even comprehend that it's actually coming) ... In any event, they want 2,600 for the clear bra on the front ... Thoughts? Needed? Price? Any help would be appreciated.
For that price, you should be able to get the entire car covered. I recently had the front, partial hood/fenders, lower sill, rear fender leading edge, lights, mirror fronts and fog lights on my Vanq done for $800. And they came to my place and installed these pre-cut pieces in my garage. Find someone else, not the dealer.
You are in NJ? I use Lee Berbs in Hillsborough NJ. Very reputable in the exotic car community. PM me if you need his contact info.
The cost for doing half a nose, bumper, mirrors, side sills, and rear wheel arch area was less than your front only quote.

Your price is too high.
.Don't make the same mistake I did...
Usually, going through the dealer really means that they will be sub-contracting the job to a third party since it is doubtful that they have someone on staff who does this kind of job. In those cases, it is customary to tack on a profit margin on top of what the third party would charge directly and often this margin is about 100%. The dealer often has to guarantee any third party add-ons and this is how they justify their higher price. Best to go to the source directly and bypass the dealer if you want to save some money.

Paint protection film pricing will be all over the board. Most importantly find a company with extensive history and experience. Many companies outsource and are not capable of doing it themselves as this is a highly crafted industry.

Sorry just got my GT two weeks ago, so no pictures yet for my first post.
I had my bumper, full hood/fender, mirrors, headlight done for $1400 with xpel ultimate. So that price does seem quite high.

I too am in the "wish I woulda" camp. I looked, but I thought the reputable outfits were too expensive. Now I regret not pulling the trigger.
Good luck with your search. ..and "git er done".

I had my entire MY12 Roadster covered by a highly recommended expert for slightly more than that. I would find someone else.
Given it is a service, you may be able to bargain them down, but who knows if they will put the same effort into the job if they aren't getting what they asked for. Just my .02

I had my 2007 Vantage done when I bought it in August. I wish the original owner had this done when he bought the car new in 2008. Even though he did not rack up many miles on the car (2900) when I bought it, there were still some chips in the paint that are now under the clear bra. I had my front bumper, half of the hood, head lights , back of the mirrors, the side sills and just behind the doors on the rear fenders done. It was around $1600.

When it comes to paint protection, there are varying factors that determine how visible it is on the car:
1. The film - some films exhibit more orange peel texture than others, which is most noticeable on dark colored vehicles.
2. Custom or precut templates - the precut templates will have more seams than custom. However, when it comes to custom applications, it takes a tremendous amount of experience and skill to be able to execute so the film is not visible to most.
3. Regardless of custom or precut, the most important of all would be the installer. Installers come and go in this industry and many companies do not actually perform the installations themselves. Due to the amount of time it takes to hone in the skills of paint protection film, many companies do not have the luxury of learning a new trade. In this aspect, they would rather hire out someone to do the work for them. This would mean that you are paying a higher premium as the contracting company would need to mark up the services to make margin. In addition, the natural issue with this is that many companies use a bidding process to find the cheapest company to act as their in-house vendor, which also means there is potentially the issue of using a less experienced company for the work
Overall, keep your eyes out for the top 3 points, and this would give you an added edge when it comes to finding a quality company to perform the work and make it look very good. We have been doing this since 1997, so this is our opinion based on the 17 years of experience we have accumulated in this industry.
