Tomorrow the first snowstorm is predicted, so I leased my new winter car and photo'd it with my Vantage to show the contrast. On Wednesday I'll have my winter tires installed on the Mustang and will drive it till the snow melts. Going from the Vantage to the Mustang which sits much taller is like going into a Mack Truck, but yesterday I got 31 highway MPG on the Mustang and thought it would be a better overall second car for the dollars. The problem owning a Vantage is that no other car feels particularly special making it difficult to choose a 2nd daily driver.
Growing up in Minnesota, I fondly remember a comedy routine from Louie Anderson that went something like this: "I grew up in Minnesota; I was 18 years old before I realized we were free to leave..." . I still have so many relatives who live there and refuse to move, even with November blizzards.
I test drove a CLA45 AMG the other day... considering replacing my Optima as my DD. Truth be told, the CLA didn't feel nearly as raw (or fast) as I expected... with more torque than the Aston I expected it to at least throw me back in my seat. That being said, I was doing about 90 on the freeway and thought I was doing 60... so I think the car is just so smooth and quiet on the road and shifts so fast that I didn't realize just how fast it was. The exhaust did drone quite badly on the highway though . Either way... may go drive it again in a few weeks to get a better feel for it.

Beautiful collection!
I also had similar idea of picking up a 2015 convertible mustang as a daily beater. However, I realized I can get a 2011 BMW z4 or 2011 BMW 528xi or 2007 Porsche Boxster for the same price.
a BEATER!!! ..HAHA!! I think that term is losing it's meaning...a beater is $500 total price not $500 per month!! LOL...
Beautiful stang though..
Here was my last years beater in a little bit of snow ..'98 Jimmy, $500 was only RWD at first, fixed the problem, cost me $80 and an hour of my time, got the 4x4 working and sold her for $1,600, hehe wish they were all that easy ..WinterBeater FTW!!!

Nice winter beater although I imagine it will be a bit like mine (E92 M3) in that it will be OK in <5 inches of snow but pretty useless with anything more than that. I can't deal with driving anything less sporty than an M3 though, even in winter. SUVs, 4 door cars and anything with fewer than 3 pedals are not for me.
I assume you will mount dedicated winter/snow tires?
