Anyone else going to Texas Bull Run @ COTA?
Track it!!
It would be nice if more AM owners tracked their cars. I started to hit the track in May of this year in my '07 Vantage. What an amazing machine! Other drivers comment on how great it is that I bring a car of this caliber out on the track. I am the only one with an AM, so it is somewhat of a novelty. Those that don't give their AM a "work out" every now and then are missing out: It's like having a trophy wife, but only giving her a hug rather than a ****.
I took it out this past weekend to TWS for probably the last time. I only tracked it 3 times since I moved on to my project E92 M3 track car back in June. Originally, I wanted to gut the AM's interior to make it lighter and replace the suspension so it would be easier to track. But I had a change of heart when I was sitting in the cabin one day just admiring the coach work that went into this car. The amazing leather smell! I could not do it. I will wait and get a salvaged Vantage in about 2 years and build me a proper track car out of it. I will say I have to turn off the M3's traction control because it is very intrusive; not so in the Aston. I drive the hell out of it and gun it in the corners without the TC interfering. It lets you have fun until you actually reach the cars' limit. I love passing up American hot rods, Porsches etc. at the track. It pisses some of them off that something so refined can overtake them over and over again.
COTA is a great course. I have driven it twice, but in my M3. I would highly recommend track pads and flushing the brake fluid with Castrol SRF. The AM is very heavy which will make your brakes very spongy after 15 minutes of heavy braking. COTA has several straights that end with hairpin turns. You should be able to do 150+ on the back straight, but then will have to mash the brakes, blip, and dump it into 3rd for the hairpin turn at the end. Buhahaha! I love it!!!!

Hey guys,
Just got an email from the Texas Bull Run that Pirelli Formula 1 GP Experience is coming to the event! They are going to bring their 3-seater Formula 1 car for hot laps at the event. Also a rare & select few will be able to race a full on Formula 1 car at the event (They mentioned it was an extra cost to drive one of course).
Lets try and get a great turnout at the event!
