Question Retrofit Emotion Control Unit???

i see a listing on Ebay for a gear selector with Emotion Control Unit. I have a 2005 DB9 with the basic key & fob. I just need to know if its possible to make this work. I've called the dealer but they're not even sure. Has anyone done this or know if its even possible? let me know before i waste $1000 thanks

Possible, but way too expensive.

There was a thread on AMOC a year or two ago that explained the process. IIRC there was some fiddly electronics work required to make things work with the immobilizer & alarm system.

A member of our French AM club is in the process of doing the conversion on a V8V, he is still buying the différents bits and bobs, basicly you will have to fit the remote internal in the ECU, move the receptor located around the original key lock to the ECU dock and fit a later steering column fitted with the electronic lock.

Other than the drama of using an ECU, I don't know why anyone would prefer using one over the standard key and start button ignition of pre-2009 cars. I would much rather Aston implement a SmartKey like everyone else in the industry now uses so I can keep the key in my pocket whilst I unlock and start the car. My sources say this might finally happen with the new DB9 in 2016. I know I told them about this during my new car survey. Maybe enough people put in the same request.
