DBS vs 14 DB9

DBS vs 14 DB9
Need some input please. Priced similar, same color... Which one would you pick and why 2010-2011 DBS or a 2014 DB9 ? I haven't actually driven the DB9 but I have driven the DB9. I was honestly now blown away with the "performance" of the DBS but it was a fun car. I'm not really purchasing an AM purely for the performance but more for how gorgeous they look - clean lines, classic look, usability (to a certain degree). I am coming from an F10 M5 if that makes any difference. This is my thought process :
Thanks for your input
DBS :
- love the rear diffuser and hood
- ceramic breaks
- B&O system is a +
- more rare
DB9 :
- updated technology
- same Engine output as DBS
- still under warranty
- newer
- a lot easier finding 2 + 2 even though the 2 extra are pretty useless

That's a very personal choice, I definitely can't tell you what to do. If it was me I would buy the DBS though, for a few reasons:
- it was the flagship
- it's more rare
- it's already taken the heaviest depreciation
- it might hold its value better
As for the warranty, you can pay around $500 for a CPO inspection and then buy a 1 or 2 year warranty from Aston. Shop around, you can buy it from any dealer in North America and some will negotiate.
Good luck, and let us know what you decide!

I would only get a 2012 DBS (as it will also have the update nav) but they are priced higher than the 13 and 14 DB9s. The DB9 also has ceramic breaks as standard and the engine has more torque than the DBS. I prefer the updated headlight styling for the DB9 but I do like the more aggressive DBS front bumper. You can find a DBS with 2+2 configurations but with fewer cars available you might have to wait a bit to get the color combination you want. The DB9 can also have the B&O sound system (mine did). The DBS is lighter than the DB9 and has a higher top speed but I believe the DB9 is quicker in all measures speed that you will utilize.
As you stated the DBS was Astons flagship and should hold its value better over time. I just sold my 2013 db9 you can get an amazing deal on it. I'll pm you with details. Good luck!

Based on your list you already made the decision, DBS. There aren't really more positives to the DB9 other than being newer, but you find more positives overall with the DBS. My vote is DBS. Unless you have a 2 year old, seats in the back are worthless imho.

DBS all the way! They are much more exclusive! My area is filled with 458s, R8s, Lambos even a few vantages and DB9s but no other DBSs around. Being previous owner of a few exotics the DBS is my favorite car so far. I love the elegance and class about it!

Interior is the same and so is the engine. Chassi updates? Exterior front end is diffrient but that's about it. The DB9 lacks much from from the DBS then you might think.

According to Aston's press release, the '13+ DB9 has suspension, brakes, and some chassis updates:

Can't lose with either, what does the DB9 lack?

If both choices were of a automatic trans model, Hands down.. I'd take the 2014 DB9, more powerful better engine with VVT, can put out 695bhp with minor parts, Bluetooth streaming, Garvin nav, stiffer subframe, upgraded suspension with option of adaptive damping, can get B&O, standard CCM brakes.. Its practical a DBS minus the bumpers.. The new DB9 is actually a rebaged and improved Virage..

Ahh, you're right, the interior is the same. I was looking at the Vanquish.

185k MSRP for the DB9 vs 275k MSRP of the DBS new, I'm sure there's a few more things that set the two cars apart.
When I buy my cars I like to get the best bang for the buck and right now you can find sub 10k miles DBS cars in the 130-150 range. You can't beat that deal. Flagship model!

Will the DBS hold it's value better than the DB9? Yes, because so much fewer of them were made. However, you are arguably getting a better car with the DB9. I think upkeep costs will also be a bit cheaper with the DB9.

Yep, my 2009 DB9 Volante stickered for $207k, 6 years ago.
