05 DB9 subwoofer wiring

I have 5 wires going to the sub. Heavy gauge red and black. And 3 small red white and black. Does anyone know what the small 3 wires are for? It's a Lynn 950 watt system.

Manufacture specific from Linn that monitors driver movement and changes output at amplifier to keep the driver from under or overdrive to not allow distortion.

Is it possible to use an aftermarket sub with out the driver monitor? If I try one is it possible to harm the Amp? I am not pleased with the distortion so I'm looking for a solution. After hearing and seeing many posts critical of the Lynn performance I am looking for alternatives.

You could use any sub driver with the Linn amplifier, you just delete the additional 3 small wires. You will not hurt the amplifier it's just their add-on for "extra special tuning". You can add more fiber stuffing as it is a sealed unit. Make sure the cheap foam on the metal speaker grill is removed also. The Linn sub is a really nice driver so I would recommend you check and seal the box and mounting before changing it out.

I have the old aluminum support for the sub wide open all around except for the center trim covering it. Any recommendations for sealing material? I really appreciate your help.

100% silicone and let it cure before 're-assembly of the driver.
